So... Some Here Wonder Why No One Cares The Boomers Are Having Their Golden Coffins Repo'd. Well... Heres why:

Hoo! You're in for a rude awakening. Your home value is dropping. Significantly.
Not worried. That's another thing I learned early on. Don't pay anywhere between 4% and 26% more than a purchase price because you want it now. I have NO debt. Zero, none, nada, zip, zilch, diddly squat.
As for wages, in my area, McDs is hiring burger flippers for $22/hr. I worked for 25 years in a skilled trade before I saw $25/hr.
ID has an average wage of $24/hour and the unemployment rate is 3.7%. People take care of themselves here.

Okay. :rolleyes-41:

Ten points. Not one defeated. Funny. I originally had twenty. But I correctly gauged this boards attention span to perceive it as TLDR... Can I read a room, or what?

While I did agree with you early on, just remember that comparisons can be deceiving. While it is tougher today to own a home, a lot of that has to do with the size of the house.

When I went to school for architectural design in the early 1970's, the average house being built was between 1200 and 1300 square feet. The average house today is around 2200 square feet.

Some of these problems are self inflicted.

For the entire biden term, the trump cult was screaming....People can't afford Gas, Food, Lodging or Eggs.
They pretended to care about the poor, but never really meant it.
Now, with the market falling FAST, they are all saying 'it's a buying opportunity'

That's complete bullshit, because the 'buying opportunity' is for the rich.
It is a great time to buy stocks

It’s not just for the rich

I don't disagree with you there. "Mc Mansion " syndrome has run amuk. But that aside. Building that same 1300 soft house is still insanely over priced and out of reach for most of the youngsters. Even if they could... Zoning requirements forbid them from doing so. Even when they were willing to bend the knee and created this "tiny house" fad... Not cuz it was cool... They were desperate. Boomers even stomped the shit out of that.
Sorry, not sorry... Boomers are the most selfish, self absorb humans God ever placed on earth.

One more thing. When we boomers were starting out, it was not uncommon for us to live in a trailer home. I did, as most of my friends did. In my area, trailer parks are dying. It seems that younger people don't want to start at the bottom anymore.

Correction. The "bottom" has been elevated out of reach for many of these youngsters. Rate of pay to income for rent, exceeds what i was paying in mortgage for my house. That i had built. It's no where near the same.

A trailer home is affordable today. Right now. If they rent, they can afford one.

Not so fast. A trailer that was 40,000 in the 2000s is a hundred thousand to buy today. Then... Where are they going to put it? Zoning ordinances, Yada yada yada... Now... if you find a place that will allow you... to put up a trailer... How close are you to employment? Hmmm.... i guess we're gonna have to talk about transportation at some point.

I roomed with 3 other dudes in an apartment for 2 1_2 years before I ever got my first place . I know what's up. But cost/wages today..? Not even a fair fight. That's what's pushing these kids toward communism. We have to offer them something attainable, and worth the effort...

And to think so many Boomers wonder why their kids have gone no-contact.

They blame "woke brainwashing". Self-introspection is not a boomer strong point.
Spew shit. Offer no link. Post it anyway. Manboob, you still suck at this.

  1. Housing Market Locked Us Out - Boomers bought homes for dirt—$20K in the ‘70s, a joke adjusted for inflation. They choked supply with zoning crap and watched prices explode to $400K for a dump. We’re stuck renting or couch-surfing.
Proof: Federal Reserve Economic Data - Home Prices
  2. Debt Dumped on Our Backs - They got a debt-to-GDP ratio under 35% in the ‘60s, then ran it up past 120% by 2025 with tax cuts and pork. Boomers cash out; we’re stuck with the bill.
Proof: U.S. Treasury - Historical Debt Outstanding
  3. College Costs Blew Up - Boomers paid peanuts—$500 a year—with summer gigs. They gutted funding, let schools turn into loan sharks, and now we’re $100K in the hole for a degree that don’t pay.
Proof: National Center for Education Statistics - Tuition Costs
  4. Jobs Went From Gold to Garbage - They had factories and unions, then offshored ‘em in the ‘80s and ‘90s for cheap labor. Boomers got pensions; we’re stuck with gig apps—no benefits, no hope.
Proof: Bureau of Labor Statistics - Manufacturing Employment
  5. Social Security’s a Bust - They paid in chump change, took out fortunes, and left the fund on life support—projected to crater by 2035 without a fix. Boomers retire; we pay.
Proof: Social Security Administration - Trust Fund Data
  6. Healthcare’s a Racket - Boomers got cheap docs and meds. They let HMOs and Pharma jack prices—now it’s $500 for a pill and $10K deductibles. They’ve got Medicare; we’re screwed.
Proof: KFF - Healthcare Costs Over Time
  7. Wages Ain’t Moved - Productivity’s up 300% since the ‘70s, but wages? Stuck. Boomers skimmed the profits, CEOs cashed out, and we’re left with $7.25—half their buyin’ power.
Proof: Economic Policy Institute - Wage Stagnation
  8. Pensions Got Torched - They retired at 60 with cushy defined-benefit plans. Boomers swapped ‘em for 401(k)s, handed us the market crapshoot, and bailed. Work ‘til you die, kids. WHOOPS! Eat the market crash fuckin' parasites...
Proof: Pension Rights Center - Shift to 401(k)
  9. Wall Street Got a Free Pass - They deregulated banks, crashed it all in ‘08, and got bailed out. Boomers kept their cushy nests; we lost jobs and homes. Greed paid—for them. And they don't care as long as they die in a golden coffin someone else has to pay for...
Proof: Federal Reserve - 2008 Financial Crisis
  10. Rigged the Game, Kept the Prize - Boomers preached hard work, then tilted the table—tax breaks for the rich, corporate handouts. They’re set; we’re hustlin’ three jobs to eat. Ask any Zoomer who still has to live with their parents despite having a "good paying job"...
Proof: Tax Policy Center - Tax Breaks Over Time
There ya go—ten nails in the coffin, each with a link to shove the truth up your ass. Boomers built their empire, then pulled the ladder up behind them. Argue that, I dare ya...
The fundamental flaw in your attack on older Americans is we had ZERO CONTROL over any of the policies that led to the general level of prosperity of my generation. I'm sorry you are struggling and I have empathy for the younger generations. But you are blaming the wrong people, we did not RIG THE GAME as you say. We benefited from it, but that is entirely different.

This is comical. You tell a man who is by definition a "millionaire " that you sympathize with his struggle; purely for the fact that I'm advocating for the younger generations. What a fucking joke...

You mean those people that couldn't afford Gas, Food, or Housing, can NOW all at once e afford to buy stock.......?
Yes because food, gas and housing is all much cheaper then when you guys were destroying the economy

I don't see any advocating. I see a lot of animus directed at my generation for benefiting from policies we had no control over.

Trailer homes are affordable. Most kids today look at it being beneath them

They do. And that's a shame. However a trailer home at today's prices, bought a brick, and mortar ten years ago. They notice. They do know how to read, ya know...

The OP lays out ten points where your generation directly created today's reality. And not one point has been contested. Not one...

And what about boomers? They had no such compunction. My parents built a 14x 20 foot "house when they were married. We knew that live was rough. Kids today want to start out like their parents are now.
