So I finally watched a Taylor Swift performance

After all the hype and fuss I figured maybe I should take a look. Unfortunately it was just about what I figured it would be.

Nothing special at all. I kept waiting for that burst of talent...It didn't show in vocal quality...the dance moves were mediocre and the choreography unimaginative and frankly boring. Not sure what she's trying to achieve.

if I had to guess I would say a poor mixed imitation of several more proficient artists from pop and modern venues only not as good as any of them.

What I get out of it is a great white hope thing....since people of color have more or less dominated the live entertainment aspect of our culture in the past 20 years or so.

Myself....I look for the talent not the skin color.

Taylor Swift is well marketed? While not the greatest talent, she is talented enough to pull it off. It's a combination of looks, personality, talent, marketing, and good luck....not necessarily in that order.

She writes her own songs

They are not very good songs but thats just my opinion

Swift is a product of her times and she will be forgotten in time

Btw: Female singers should be every man’s dream of a hot woman

I guess I must be spoiled having taken in too many Michael Jackson performances. He may have been a Wretch in his personal life... But he was a genius on the stage.

Yeah... She is not untalented.

How did it happen that the originator of this thread attended a concert? Did it pay the price? Pay a premium for the ticket?

I have not knowingly ever heard a TS song, but the LAFitness that I patronize plays a never-ending sequence of bad music, obviously intended for an audience about a fourth of my age. Maybe I have heard her. The lack of singing talent in that music is truly remarkable. There always seems to be a marginally-talented young woman making gazillions of dollars in the music industry while everyone else looks on with envy. It's a pity because there are so many talented artists that never get the break they could exploit.
