So How Much Money did Musk Save Taxpayers by Closing USAID?

I’m curious why you didn’t use the actual dollar figures? No problem. They will be shown to American taxpayers every week for four years. Good luck in 2026 and 2028.

Good point....

260 million last year for transgender causes....

That's about 10,000 portable trailers for North Carolina.... Nice ones too.

Possibilities here are endless for campaign damage to the left. If the GOP starts now
They can positively incinerate the Democrats in the midterms.

Almost no program makes a "dent" or is a big percentage. If you use your argument, then you simply throw up your hands and surrender. You have to start somewhere. Your logic is logic fail.

You people really have no argument against this, do you.
Yes we do. First, Musk is unelected and he doesn't have the authority. And that really is the entire argument.

Now what this does is make us less safe, makes the world sicker, and allows China to enter into these spaces with the aid we ended.

The exact opposite is going to happen.

Incorrect.

The money is meaningless, the sum insignificant in the big picture, less than 1% of the budget. The greater loss is whatever influence it might have brought the country in the countries it was or would have been dispersed, the good will among the people who would have benefited from our largesse.

That vacuum will likely be filled by nations like Russia, China, even Iran, buying them favor... and possible trouble for the U.S.
Paying for influence is asinine. To keep such faux influence you must always pay more. Better to create viable trade agreements that would benefit all parties.

I'll bite, which countries are going to cause trouble for the US if we don't give them USAID money?

It is pretty simple, we spend the most on the military, and that's where the most waste is.. I doubt if any of that will be cut. Second, this country is losing over 1 trillion dollars per year, and cutting agencies that are investigating Musk to give the rich tax cuts won't address the problem. Third, a lot of people will lose jobs, and these losses will spread to the places where these people spend money, which will cause more job losses.

Nobody is paying for influence. Our goodwill goes a long way in diplomacy.

No one working for USAID was ever elected.

Far more money is spent on SS and health programs than the military.

DOGE is supposedt be saving us so much money. How much did Musk save us by closing USAID?

"In 2024, USAID accounted for 0.3% of all federal spending, 0.2% lower than in 1980. In the last 10 years, that share has remained the same. Major legislation, internal or global economic conditions, and acute events like the COVID-19 pandemic can affect spending year to year."

He saved us less than 1/2 of 1 percent and the cost us relative to our security, our heath and global leadership is far more than the money Musk "saved"
Got to start somewhere! A penny saved is a penny earned

Want to make cuts? Start with government funded transsexual surgeries. It is both sick and laughable.

Reduce military spending.

Incorrect, I believe our biggest expenditure is the military. SS is the money we pay in.
