This means that people who paid their premiums were denied medical care and in many instances died. He was also making money from inside information, selling some of his stock for millions before the DOJ investigation, of which he had advance knowledge, was announced. As disturbing as his murder may be, he was in no was, shape, or form "healthcare worker."

Second, they were not laughing and joking about the man or his murder, they were laughing and making jokes about the way the NYPD have been handling the investigation and the reactions of some people to the murderer's appearance and the insurance industry. Not one joke the told was at the expense of Thompson himself.
