Smith & Wesson sued for the Chicago Highland Park shooting. This is not satire.

Is it any wonder that Chicago has led the nation in violent crime and misery for 6 decades? Three generations of pointing fingers and blaming everyone except the true perpetrators of the carnage. Suing the GUN MANUFACTURER for one person's insanity? :confused-84:

Wrong.

It’s got nothing to do with Chicago.

The lawsuit cites other mass shooting incidents with M&P 15s:

‘"The mass shooting at Highland Park's Fourth of July Parade was the foreseeable and entirely preventable result of a chain of events initiated by Smith & Wesson," the lawsuit filed in Illinois state court says. "For years, the manufacturer has deceptively and unfairly marketed its assault rifles in a way designed to appeal to the impulsive, risk-taking tendencies of civilian adolescent and post-adolescent males-the same category of consumers whom Smith & Wesson has watched, time after time, commit the type of mass shooting that unfolded again on the Fourth of July in Highland Park. Smith & Wesson's M&P rifles have been repeatedly used in such mass shootings, including those in Aurora, Colorado; San Bernardino, California; and Parkland, Florida."’

At issue are the reckless, irresponsible marketing tactics of Smith & Wesson.

Stupid lawsuit. Outside of sports and gun magazines, they don't advertise anything.

Pillows have been intentionally used to kill people.
Knives have.
Baseball bats and golf clubs have.
Hell, trucks and cars have.

But you see, the Adam Lanza's and Nikolas Cruz's of the world don't use pillows or golf clubs when they walk into a school with the intent to slaughter.

They use guns. Semi-automatic guns that are readily available in America because the gun-nut/2nd Amendment culture requires that they be readily available.

Duh!

Only to law abiding citizens which is why they need to be run through the federal firearms check.

First, before my avatar gets into the nit-picky detail.....lemme, say, hell yes!

Sue the manufacturer. Unless and until manufacturers of this high-lethality iron are held more accountable....then we will get the same old same old. With angry socially isolated young white men shooting up WalMarts, holiday parades, music venues, elementary schools. The gun makers & peddlers do not have enough accountability and responsibility for the dangerous tools they make & sell. Give them a bigger bale-to-tote in responsibility and liability. Right now they are skating under the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA).

Of course, the game is in the details but right now, they are getting off nearly scot free in how they market their weaponry, and who they market it to. Lay more responsibility on 'em.
Then.....they may clean up their act.

OK, now to the nit-picking: Guys, your animosity towards Chicago has you wandering all over the landscape looking for someone to blame and lay on your burden of grievances.

Highland Park ain't Chicago.

It is a tony North Shore community, host of the world famous summerlong Ravinia music venue. Average household income = $231,000+, with 30,000 resident. 90% of whom are white.

---versus--

Chicago: Population 2.7 million. Median household income = $62,100

Lay down your heavy burden of being pissed-off at most everything.

You'll feel better.

Wow...you are a dumb shit....

Over 350 million Americans in the U.S....

600 million guns in private hands.

Over 21.5 million people can carry guns for self defense in public.

Number of mass public shootings in U.S. in 2021?

6

Total killed?

43

You are an idiot.....

Deer kill 200 people a year.

Lawn mowers between 90-100 a year.

Democrat party controlled cities create the majority of gun murders in this country and the shooters aren't young, white males....and most of the victims are blacks who bought the democrat party line.....

Other businesses better step up and side with the gun makers...if leftists can sue gun makers for a product they didn't sell to criminals who used the product illegally, then car makers, booze makers and everyone else will be next on the target list....

Well, the good poster Ray can go there on those kinds of incidents. But I wouldn't.

Rather, I view it as a 'guns-are-different' ethos.
Guns don't take your kids to school, take you grocery shopping, or to work.

Today's civilian guns are high-lethality tools, easily concealed, highly portable, and meant to kill, threaten or protect. Autos ain't like that. Swimming pools ain't like that.

Guns are different.
In an altogether different category.
Hence a new view of liability and responsibility can be applied.
Because?
Well, because guns are different.

And you are different.....the "stupid," kind of different.

And this diversionary drivel that constantly streams from the Left is precisely why Chicago and the other Democrat controlled cities have been perpetual war zones for half a century. You and the other Democrat supporters who point the finger at gun manufacturers and White Supremacists are part of the problem..

Where are they advertising? Certainly not where people can see it passively. Not like this, for example:

The carnage on the interstate was the foreseeable and entirely preventable result of a chain of events initiated by Budweiser. For years, the brewer has deceptively and unfairly marketed its poisonous products in a way designed to appeal to the impulsive, risk-taking tendencies of civilian adolescent and post-adolescent males-the same category of consumers whom Budweiser has watched, time after time, commit the type of mass destruction that unfolded again last night. Budweiser's products have repeatedly caused such death and destruction all around the nation.

Ready to open the floodgates?

The weapon doesn't matter.

And FYI semiautomatic rifles have been available on the civilian market for over a century there's nothing new about them.

This is an extremely important point. We've had guns readily available since the founding of the nation with few mass shootings and NO ONE dared to even consider shooting kids at school. Heck, we had shooting classes in school and kids would bring guns with them to hunt on the way home. Now, we have mass shootings and people want to take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens instead of dealing with the real problems, which are the mental and emotional issues that so many people have.

You might as well cut off your dick to stop other people from raping.

Actually the person at fault is the father that allowed his son to buy the firearm, so if the families and Illinois want to blame someone then blame the Dad and the retarded politicians that left a loophole in so a deranged lunatic could buy a gun!
