since when did captain america become black?

So you know that cap was frozen in the ice for 70 years...so he's a man out of time. Everybody he knew is dead.

Iron mans dad (Howard) helped in the experiment to create cap. Give him his strength & power.

Iron mans girl is pepper potts and she's always telling him to ditch the iron man suits...she says let cap or thor be the hero...I want a living husband...not a dead husband!

Those things bring the last 2 movies into better context...like when pepper shows up in her iron man suit (that she would NEVER try on) to fight side by side with her man!

that is not really the point, if you want to stay true to a book you hire an actor to represent what the author created

stan lee created captain marvel a white guy from the 40's or something.

just stick to script and stop trying to rewrite history of books to fit in your own DEI agenda

imagine a new movie about bruce lee and the actor was white........LOL liberal minds would explode

But they change things all the time, change how the character functions, change all sorts of things.

That liberals and conservatives will get angry over the same thing, just shows that it's idiots attacking idiots for being idiots, isn't it?

not really, just honor the author and keep it authentic, that it all

if a character is X then treat them as X and hire and actor to represent them

not rocket science.

frigidweirdo what does jesus have to with marvel? I never stated that but it's in the bible and generally what he looked like but I can't confirm
I was just pointing out captain america goes way back and he was white so the fact it's moved onto a black guy is just simply woke hollywood agenda
Maybe when Captain America was first created THAT was the woke Hollywood agenda. The only reason he was white in 1940 was because America was doing Jim Crow and whites couldn't imagine a black superhero.

Not true. I have some very old "Captain America and Falcon" comic books. And there were other black super heroes before the falcon.

ugh, guess I am going to need to pull up IMDB and figure out where I am at and in which order to watch these so they make sense

It is true.

Who Were the First Black Superheroes?

In the world of superhero comic books, Black and African-American characters have been woefully under-represented over the years. That is starting to change, with both of the major comics companies (Marvel and DC) working hard to create diverse characters and make their comic-book universes more inclusive.

One of the unintended consequences of most comic book creators (writers and artists) being white, is that most of the characters they created, especially in the period from the 1940s though the 1970s, are also white. Black or African-American comic book superheroes were non-existent in the two major comic book companies until the mid-1960s. Then, in 1966, two white, Jewish, first-generation American creators, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, revolutionized comic books by introducing the first Black superhero. The Black Panther appeared in 1966 in the pages of the popular Fantastic Four comic book series, and, as they say, the rest is history.

White man stop trying to argue with somebody black about black history.

This is about context.

The Marvel characters are purely fictional.

The characters have changed, they use actors and use the actor's face. They don't make the actor's face fit what the comic book character looked like.

You're focusing on race. As if the race and gender are important, but nothing else is. What difference does it make?

And for the context, people will get all angry because this character or that character will change their skin color, but then not get angry that Jesus is depicted as blue eyed and blond haired...

Why is it bad to go from white to black, but okay to go from brown to white?
They don't make the actor's face fit what the comic book character looked like.
tell that to the actors that played Prof X and Doctor Strange....

ah, man it's been well over 25 years since I bought a comic book so

I remember buying the Transformers #1 in sept 1984...it's now 40 years old & I had it graded at a CGC 9.6 :D

First of all you need to see "Infinity war" and then "end game".

Cap went back in time and didn't come back in 5 seconds...then they saw him sitting on a bench...he was now an old man. So he handed off the shield to sam. Believe it or not it was a happy moment. Cap had stayed back to live his life with his love margaret carter.
Spoiler Alert...
There is a six episode season on Disney called the Falcon and Winter Soldier that explains the real transition of the Captain America title.
There was another dude that the government makes into Captain America because Sam gave up the shield for a museum after the movie. The new Captain America crosses a line, basically murders someone with the shield in front of witnesses and Sam eventually becomes the new Captain America in the series.
The folks from Wakanda give him his new suit and wings.

I ain’t watching it !!

That's up to you...but I'll tell ya...infinity war and end game are 2 of the best movies I've ever seen!

You have to watch them like...
