The point of the whole matter is that nobody here is banned for simply expressing their opinion. We have people disagree all the time and nobody is banned. At DU, ONE COMMENT that is pro-Bush gets you booted. Not for 24 hours, not temporarily, but gone for good. Long live freedom of speech, eh?

I don't see the point in having a message board like that. I like the fact that there are reasonable people here with different views. Yeah, there's the occassional extremist from both sides that makes you want to pull your hair out, but for the most part we have some pretty good discussions here. DU is just a place where people can go and stroke their ideology. So to speak.

I too have Nov 3rd off. I also have Nov 2nd off but will be working at the polls as an Election Judge. The only registered Libertarian Judge in our County! I have an election results Party every Presidential election and you would be surprised at the diversity of opinion represented at the party.

It makes watching the results much more fun when you have good debate and pool as well as Barbeque. Unfortunately I will miss the beginning of the party this year.

First, everyone has an opinion. We can post these and compare them all day long without accomplishing anything. Personally, I'm only interested in the opinions of people who have taken the time and effort to do some reading and some research in order to form those opinions. If you have a position you want to post, then by all means do so. But back it up with facts from reputable sources. Spend a little time looking things up and provide references with your opinions so that we can all read the information on which you base your opinion.

Second, you frequently come across like a juvenile idiot. Sorry, there's no polite way to put that. To be brutally honest, you invite abuse. The childish retorts, temper tantrums and freshman phraseology which you love to throw around does not endear you to anyone who wants to have an adult discussion.

Third, you may want to consider the possibility that you are NOT always right. Others may have formed opinions based on facts more accurate than your's.

Fourth, if you're going to disagree with a post that someone has taken time and trouble to present, then deal with the whole post. Don't resort to infantile grammar or spelling corrections and don't pick out one tiny fraction of a post and think to refute it with one smarmy catch-phrase from a liberal website. And develop a thick skin. You're going to get disagreement and folks like me are not at all shy about being blunt.

Finally, you might want to consider putting your obnoxious side away while you are here and making some attempt to get along with people. If you continue on your present course, you will find yourself banned again - and this time most likely it will be permanent. Most of the folks on this board are adults, we have a sufficiency of headaches and we don't need to adopt one more.

So if you want to engage in a rational discourse - welcome to the board. If you want to engage in silly rhetoric, may I recommend Slate or Yahoo.
