Should the NFL publish Wonderlic scores and stop punishing weed smokers?

. If a fellow has a low IQ I dunno if I want to embarrass him.

I do.

I cheer for the Vanderbilt Commodores, a real college football team in a conference filled with pro football teams disguised as schools.

I have the right to know if the guy from the other team who just sacked our QB can read the jersey or not.
You have no such right.

They want to get high, the whole silly idea that it is to manage pain is silly.

Legalize it and the NFL needs to change its policy to allow a player to take it. To me what is worse, getting hit 50 times in a game or taking weed?

Got news for you, marijuana is a really good, non addictive, way to manage pain if you have a good Indica strain. And, if you use the THC enhanced lotions that they have, you can manage it WITHOUT having an altered perception, because it doesn't make you high.

As far as which is worse, getting hit or getting high? Getting hit would be worse.

It's not news to me. You smoke to get high, as you say many other ways to treat the pain with oils and lotions.

With all the damage they do to their bodies playing football, I'm not sure how the NFL can pretend to take the high road and say no pot because it is harmful. It's BS.

You apparently know zero about marijuana. No, I didn't say that there are many other ways, I said that there was ONE, and mentioned the lotion. Out of all the marijuana products that I've seen in CO, there are only 2 that I know of that won't get you high. One is CBD oil, which doesn't have the THC molecules in it but can still be used for various ailments, and the other is THC infused lotion, which can be applied to a specific area, and that is where it stays. Everything else, be it edibles, shatter, wax, flower, hash oil or hash, will get you high.

But, just because it gives you a buzz, doesn't mean that it's not beneficial medically.

Do people who take Oxy do it just to get a buzz too?

I know quite a bit about marijuana, you obviously don't know me.

Most people take marijuana for the same reason that people drink. It is an escape. A minority take it to ease the pain.

Tell that to all the veterans I've spoken with in CO who say that marijuana helps them more than the drugs the VA puts them on. In many cases, the veterans I've spoken with have been able to go from 10 to 12 pills per day to just one or two with the help of marijuana.

And, tell that to my roomie, who was a long haul truck driver until an accident messed up her back and her joints. She smokes it for pain relief, and I can tell you from personal observation, she does a lot better when she smokes than when she takes pills. Marijuana doesn't do the nasty things to your body like opiates do, one of which is making you constipated.

Did I say opiates were better? Gg

You said that people only use marijuana to get high. I told you that they also use it for pain management. You said the number of people who used it for pain management was low. I told you several examples I knew of where people were using it medically to get off of other meds and for pain management. I then said that marijuana was better for pain management than opiates, because there are no adverse physical effects like there are with opiates, one effect of opiates is that they make you constipated.

I also changed it to "most" smoke it to get high, which is correct. Plenty of other ways to take besides smoking it. To me that is a destructive way to take medication.

You're right, there are plenty of other ways to take it. You can drink it, you can eat it, or you can put drops under your tounge. All those will still get you high though. The only 2 ways that I know of using it without getting high is to use CBD oil (no THC in it), or in a THC infused lotion, which is applied to whatever part is hurting.

But, if you ingest it, and it has THC in it, you will get high.

Those are the only two I know of, how ever if you use the topical, you could test positive for marijuana in a drug test.

But the assumption that because Vandy is academically at a very high level, the rest of the schools in the conference are only pretending to be college teams is nonsense.

Random guessing on the Wonderlic gets a score of 10.

SEC Wonderlic scores

LSU CB Morris Claiborne 4
UF OG Carl Johnson 6

I could go on and on.

Sorry, those kids are not students. They are pro football players disguised as students.

I am sure you could find plenty of examples guys who didn't do well. That still doesn't make it public information.

Also, the Univ of Alabama football team has a graduation rate higher than the national average for all student, not just athletes.

Barrett Jones graduated summa cum laude with a degree in accounting and a GPA 4.0. That, while starting all 4 years and playing every position on the O line. You still don't have any right to see his Wonderlic scores.

One of Jones' teammates, Greg McElroy QB, graduated with a 3.85GPA and was a finalist for a Rhodes Scholarship. And he led his team to a National Championship in '09. You don't have any right to see his Wonderlic scores either.

That's funny.

FWIW, I despise what professional football programs have done to many colleges. If it were up to me the day before any college game all the players would have to pass a test to prove they are learning anything in class.

Edit: I just don't want to embarrass any individual if that makes sense.

How about other college students receiving scholarships? Are you going to test them too?

Sure (if we don't already through their grades in their real classes).

I have no issue with that.

The classes the athletes take are not real classes? Wow. Who knew.

When I was in college I had classes with some big athletes. Were they in the wrong class or was I?

Valid point. Some athletes take real classes.

Just to clarify, guessing does not get a score of 10. It has a mathematical probability of scoring a 10. Guessing could also get you a 50 or could get you a 0.

You have no such right.

Of course he doesn't have any such right. But he thinks because he was a fan, he should have access to private information.

I am for transparency.

If Oklahoma State has Dexter Manley sacking the QB, do we have the right to know if Dexter can read the jersey of the QB he just sacked?

No. You do not have that right. In fact, they have a right to privacy.

Transparency for an organization is one thing. You are wanting access to people's personal records and wanting to violate their privacy. And why? Because you are a fan? What gives you the right to access a person's private information??

I do think the NFL has no reason to test for weed. Its not like these guys are operating machinery or whatever.

Hell, they are getting hit how many times a game and you don't think it takes a huge toll on the body? Let them smoke whatever if they want. If they get permanently injured the NFL isn't going to care, why care before?

That said the rules are the rules and as long as the rule is in place that marijuana is not allowed, then players need to refrain or face the consequences.
