I think so. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. have supplanted the proverbial "public square". Unfortunately, they censor their ideological opponents and the consequences of such censorship is probably unhealthy for our democratic society.

IF you use big government powers to declare they have a monopoly I say go for it.

I don't think smaller players, any website of yours, or mine, or probably even this one (unless its owned by one of the big boys) is a monopoly.

You don’t have a right to be hosted by any social media server. Should the government get involved if I get banned from here?

Hell yes...somebody has to save me from myself!

These platforms are playing a larger and larger role in politics. It might be worth considering putting some restrictions on them to ensure equal treatment of content.

I was banned for a while. I demand a congressional investigation.

I have never used Facebook or Twitter. And the only reason I ever use YouTube is to occasionally look up old music or movies. Stuff like that.

Mnar Muhawesh discusses social media giants’ efforts to wipe independent journalism off the map and what can be done to combat this deliberate form of censorship.

Hell no!

Either that or I demand a congressional hearing next time I get banned.

Seriously, if you start ******* with private business where does it stop? I thought all you conservitards were against regulation and shit anyway?

It should stop wherever we say it stops.

It's better than them ******* with us.
It's pretty simple mang, vote with yer feet.

Don't like Facebook? Don't join.
Lol, I'm not on facebook.

Nor am I willing to defer social relations to the magic of the market.
Then you already voted so WTF is the problem?

Social media plays a huge role in politics, to the point that censorship or favoritism by the platforms could really make an impact. The private sector already has too much influence.

You haven't been paying attention.

I'm an unabashedly partisan liberal.

Exactly.

It's bad enough already.
