Don't think it should be illegal. Biased funding for research will always be obvious as the funder can't wait to tell you about it.

As to this particular research, while I don't doubt violent entertainments contribute to violent crime the fact remains countries with the same entertainments as the US, don't share our problem with violent crime as with Japan and Europe.
