The communists in china do it again

This time instead if a bridge or a 50-story building its a factory that goes boom

China is a menace to the world

The Chinese work like ants. What they get wrong they make up for in sheer effort and volume of trying. Don't worry, they have plenty of spare workers if a few get killed.

Well you can lay some of that on the American consumer. There was a time when you could buy quality American made goods. People decided they liked cheap shit. So shit is what they got. I watched quality manufacturing go out of business one by one over the years. We live in a microwave society. We got what we asked for even though I didn't ask for it

It's also a manufacturing plant and that's where a story said it occurred. That video was created by people who were just spouting bullshit details. At the beginning it says that steel tank was blown into the air by the shockwave while the video shows it blasting off when the explosion occurs.

Or maybe not.

Yeah, when Americans made stuff. All that old stuff is now worth restoring and saving.

Sorry, no, manufacturers started making cheaper shit in 3rd world countries, otherwise the cheap shit couldn't have been there in the first place to get used to. This drives quality down as better makers must then compete with products at lower prices. It is all driven by corporate profits flooding the market with stuff they have less invested in making more than it does the consumer who only buys what he needs at the best price he can naturally find.

Exactly. You got the cheapest crap that they could sell you they made the most money on. Most people spend about $12 on a descent pizza cutter. The one I bought a couple years ago has sold for as high as $130! Price has come down a bit. Would you spend $130.00 on a pizza cutter? But I tell you, the thing is amazing, you never felt anything so nice and easy to use in your life.

A similar thing happened near Shanghai 5-10 years ago.

Labor unions and burdensome government regulations caused outsourcing.

Lol, I am more likely to buy such a thing at a garage sale. Find me an old seventies pizza cutter or how about an electric can opener. Those can openers were built like tanks. Still looking for one. The one I kept went the wrong direction in the divorce. As far as buying quality these days new. Did I mention recent divorce. Every penny these days goes into my business. My fishing and hunting stuff is top of the line. Personal stuff not so.much. lol. At least I walked away with my good golf clubs. That is my one thing for fun that I own that is still quality. I finished the most recent trashed property I bought. I will sell this this summer. One more rehab project then I should be back on track. Then the next place I fix will be for me to actually stay in. Three more years I will live like a human being again. Looking forward to it.

There is no quality control and lax safety standards in China. They are basically how the USA used to be 100 years ago.

Any pizza cutter in the 1970s I ever saw would be junk these days. I think I just threw one of them out a few years ago. Stamped wheel cutter sharpened on one side held on to a crappy handle by a cheap rivet.

The cutter I showed is in the luxury item class made of forged and machined heavy stainless, milled parts, garolite handle with copper/brass/ bronze decorative pin. Made to last a lifetime and beyond. The entire thing is machined to disassemble for cleaning and cuts with ease anything you can fit under its wheel including whole sandwiches.

It's a matter of choice. Beijing priotizes economic development over implementing costly safety measures to protect low-level workers. Japan was in the phase in the 1950s, when the economy started booming.

China has a long history of industrial accidents, from factory explosions and mine collapses to mudslides.

In 2015, two massive explosions in the port of Tianjin killed 173 people, leaving hundreds more injured and devastating large areas of the city.

In May last year, an explosion in a chemical plant in the eastern province of Shandong killed five people and injured at least 19. The blast ripped the windows of building nearby from their hinges.

Tell me about it, garage sales, flea markets, and estate sales are the only places to find anything good. I live in the country's largest cheese manufacturing state and when our cheese cutter bit the dirt, I couldn't even find a new own. Walmart was supposed to have one that was made in China for about $8, but they've been out of them for months.

Then I found these two at a thrift store for $1 apiece: Made of metal, not plastic, and one can be adjusted for thickness...

Lol, ain't no luxury in my life right now. Top of the line guns and fishing rods but I make my living with them. I am not sure I even know what luxury means anymore. I use to make a pizza every Sunday with my kids. They are grown and gone. I can't eat one by myself. I kinda live in the middle of know where. The one restaurant I do have close may be the best Pizza in the state. I buy theirs. Wouldn't know a good pizza cutter if it hit me in the face. The only quantity cutting tool I own right now is my fillet knife. I have some good diamond blades for cutting granite. As long as the mill is not behind when I am ready for the granite I let them do it. Had to do it myself the last two times I installed. I am a bit nervous cutting that stuff. One wrong move and down thousands of bucks. Good news is business is going well. Everything is bought for that. I will actually start paying myself a living wage this year. Three years from now hopefully I will regain some understanding of luxury.

I use the kind on left. All you need to do is adjust the angle of tilt of how you hold the handle to adjust the thickness of the cut. The better ones even had screws so you could even replace the cutting wire.
