I think the "red terror" has been used by both Nick Lenin's friends and his foes for a hundred years and the whole era of Russian genocide is rather boring. And either "red occupation" or "white occupation" was cruel and with massacres, inhabitants who were suspected of helping or even sympathy with the enemy were shot, and there were cases of burying of living people.I think that cruelty and genocide is the "usual thing" for the civil war, especially if it is a "class war", when the socialists were engaged in the destruction of the "bourgeois class"
