She was a Black woman with a fat check — but PNC Bank wouldn't cash it. So she sued

It seems calling the bank customer would have been the best thing to do. But, still have to fill out all those papers.
if I recall right its one or two documents,,

and if the bank refused after the dealership confirmed it I would raise holy hell,,

I think I would know if I was audited,,

in this case its an easy one,,
its from a car dealership and state records will have the title change,,
I didn't say audited. Just a little IRS investigation. They don't have to tell you.

So now the banks don't want to honor their own checks? I'm pretty sure that they're required by law to honor a check written against an account held at their financial institution.
Just consider the source, this mumble mouth, racist hag would have never posted this if the customer were white.

not sure what the bank not cashing the check has to do with that,,
What do you think the purpose of filling out the forms are? Once she cashed that check and got $10,000 cash, the government wants to know what she's going to do with it. Civil forfeiture laws have seized less money with no provocation.

I doubt this was racism. It sounds more like laziness on the bank's part.

what does that have to do with why they wouldnt cash it??

wonder how this will go. racism will be very hard to prove. especially after she argued with him in the bank.
What bank just cashes a check that large. There’s usually a hold. I’ve had large checks like that. They have to have a hold on them. She should shut her mouth. What a despicable disgrace.

all of them,,

if theres enough money in the account and they get confirmation from the account holder they are required to cash it,,

they only hold it if you deposit it in your account,,

15th post
As we can plainly see. The bank bet that the woman wouldn't do anything. They lost.
I m sure thats what happened,,

I mean what else can it be other than the bank didnt want to fill out a piece of paper,,

from experience I can tell you that banks dont like it when you take large sums of money out,,

I have had to argue more than once to cash checks over 6000 let alone over 10K

bank of america is the worst I have seen,,

Under absurd know your customer rules banks can be punished for small failures of judgment.

Those documents are filed in secret/without the knowledge of the account holder. Although I don't know this particular part from personal experience I would imagine it to be similar to the answer that the FBI gave Congress when they were asked how and when people find out that their privacy was violated, presumably in violation of the 4th Amendment, by the FBI's Carnivore email surveillance system, circa year 2000. The FBI responded, "when we charge them with a crime". And when Congress asked "what about those who you don't charge with a crime?', the FBI's response was "they don't". Well most presumably don't.

Some people become aware that something wrong is going on although they may never be able to prove it or get to the bottom of it. And the thing to remember is that banks are not the only ones doing this, ANY financial institution is subject to these laws. So someone making little more than minimum wage at a checking cashing place can maliciously report you as being "suspicious" if you have money that they think you shouldn't have or they get too nosy or curious about your sources of income.

I had to take compliance training on one of my software projects which is where I first learned about these laws because the company was a financial institution along the lines of Western Union for a country outside of the U.S.
