Senate Democrat on shutdown: ‘So far, so good’ for party

You're assuming that an open government is good for the people.
With Trump and his disastrous reign as King, it is not good for the people.
See? white liberals may take longer but because of trump they are finally coming around, back to the roots that got their foot in the door, "the government" = "the man"

That's what is really important. What's good for the people isn't a consideration. It's what's good for the party that matters.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) said the government shutdown has benefited Democrats so far, while congressional Republicans have “skedaddled” as the government stays closed.

Speaking with “Morning Joe” co-host Jonathan Lemire on MSNBC, Whitehouse was asked about his faith in Democratic leadership and the pay risks to federal workers as the shutdown entered its eighth day.

“You know, I think [for] Democrats, it’s so far, so good,” Whitehouse told Lemire.

Yep party over country, it is the mantra of big government.

It was "so far so good" when Clinton shut down the government and democrats and their minions in the media managed to blame House Speaker Gingrich. It's always "so far so good" when it comes to propaganda regarding the relationship between the democrat party and the mainstream media.

Margaret Brennan of CBS pretends to be a journalist and calls out Senator Chris Murphy (D - CT) for being a hypocrite now, pointing out prior statementx about not shutting down the government for changes in healthcare or other issues....

Seems like "both sides" are comfortable with this shutdown.

Sooner or later, Trump will realize that the tax revenues are still being collected, so the money is there to be spent, and that he is literally the only decider of how and when it is spent during this period of no authorized expendatures.

His agencies could literally start spending at the same levels as they were on September 30th. Or he could tell a disfavored agency like DOE to all go home and not spend a penny. Because there is no law telling him he cannot.

Except for the law that says only Congress can originate spending bills. But taking that literally would mean literally no federal government exists. Since he will not do that and nobody wants him to, he can spend at his sole discretion with extremely broad powers.

Margeret Brennen did well that day, to the suprise of the Democrats she interviewed.

Most of the liberal newschicks are hopeless, but Brennen has potential to actually become a journalist.

She's could even be good looking, if she'd just freakin' smile once a day at least.

That statement says it all “good for the Party”. Democrats only win when there is crisis, pain, and suffering. If none of that is present, then, they either create it or exacerbate it. Not since RFK running in 1968 have you heard a Democrat say something along the lines of “we are doing well but we can do better. Here is my vision.” Carter ran against Nixon’s Watergate, Clinton ran against Bush’s recession, Obama ran against financial crisis under Bush 2, and Biden ran against COVID under Trump.

“Never let a crisis go to waste”.

Why would the House convene during the shutdown? To give speeches about how much it sucks that Senate Democrats and "not Democrats" are filibustering reopening government?

They would rightly be accused of grandstanding if they did that.

And here I thought the filibuster was a racist "Jim Crow" mechanism.

My mistake.

Dems are holding firm and keeping the shot down alive

Meanwhile they have their brownshirts scheduled for a riot this weekend, called no kings day

Haha you have to wonder just how dumb the 19 percenters that support them are

How’s he a king when the minority party has shut the govt down?

I mean at this point you all have forced him to start firing people and cutting govt to ensure basics can still run…its like you all wanted project 2025 to happen

Yeah.

Rumor has it that they are waiting til at least after the "NO KINGS!" bologna to finally open back up.

That way Chuck Schumer can cosplay like he's Chuck Norris for a little while longer.

Party over country is killing us. The incentives all make it worse.

There are things we can do to change the system under which these people operate. We just don't care enough. OR, too many of us LIKE this shit.

You being one of them, since you voted for the most radically partisan administration in American history.

Hypocrite.
