I don't have a real opinion on this action other than it's the same ole same ole in which people often opt to go after the manufacturers for the abuse of their products presumably because they have the deep pockets while the criminals committing these crimes you would have to assume, have no assets. Therefore, this lawsuit seems inherently unjust and unfair and I hope that the same people & organizations who have always stood up for lawful gun owners will do so again in this instance.

I was fortunate that when I first began my pursuit of learning how to lawfully & safely defend myself by carrying, that I was put in touch with some very good, knowledgeable and kind people. We'll see how this works out in the end.

City Attorney Ann Davison says illegal devices known as ‘Glock Switches’ are responsible for a dramatic rise in the number of shots being fired in Seattle.

When you go to a crime scene now, instead of three or four casings that are recovered, it’s 50, 70,” Davison told KOMO News. “[Glock’s] unique design makes it very easy, to, within minutes, very cheaply, change their semi-automatic weapon to a fully automatic weapon.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday in King County Superior Court seeks a Judge to find that Glock handguns constitute a "public nuisance" under Washington law and order the company and firearms dealers to deter and prevent the weapons from being converted to fire fully-automatic.

They know their design is susceptible to this conversion, and that is where our issue is,” Davison said. “The gift we should give generations to come is a reduction in gun violence, and that means all participants have to do their part – I need to prosecute, people need to make better choices, and corporations need to be held responsible if they are putting public safety at risk as well.

If the judge knows anything, they'll know that federal law prohibits these kinds of suits and will dismiss it. Of course ya never know what a State judge will do in commieland.

.

This suit will be dismissed.

My reasoning is that this impacts the user's ability to "keep and/or bear arms." This is crucial to any gun user's 2nd Amendment rights.

Also, for precedent, there is the Heller opinion in 2008 and subsequent SCOTUS opinions afterwards. The suit will fail on its face.

Can we ban the practice of leaving firearms in vehicles overnight? On average, a gun is stolen from a vehicle every 9 minutes and there`s a very good chance that the gun thief is not a law-abiding citizen. The NRA (Nation`s Real Ayeholes) opposes this because they are largely funded by gun manufacturers and they don`t care how many guns are stolen or how many people are gunned down in schools, churches, concerts, etc.
This is not Gun Grabbing!

I thought maybe WA State's preemptive statute would prohibit the City of Seattle from doing this but I'm not sure how applicable it would be since the thing they're complaining about is already unlawful under both current federal and state law:

"Washington has what’s called a firearm preemption law (RCW 9.41.290). It means that the state government sets all the rules about guns—like who can own them, where they can be carried, and how they can be sold. Cities, counties, and other local governments aren’t allowed to make their own separate gun laws that are stricter (or looser) than state law."

The suit has no merit its another attempt to change the subject from democrat failure to control crime and blame the gun.

Virtually any semi-auto can be made to fire full auto in a short time with a simple file.

They're free to go after the folks that make the sears, but not the gun manufacturer, they are protected under federal law.

Ah no, the NRA is funded largely by membership dues or dividends from investment made to them.

It’s already a crime to steal a firearm. How about we blame those that actually steal them rather than people that have nothing to do with the theft or the victims of that theft.

Does the vehicle have 2nd amendment rights? We do blame the people who steal them from irresponsible law-abiding morons, but that doesn`t mean we can`t arrest both.
The NRA has received Tens Of Millions from the gun industry. Those who gave a million dollars or more to Nation`s Real Ayeholes are Smith and Wesson, Beretta, Springfield Armory and Ruger & Co.

I wonder if I can sue makers of all semi autos, just because of this?

So you want to arrest people who leave firearms in a car. Good gawd; no wonder you marxists have screwed up this country.
