Just look at the state of all larger cities, and their problems with violent crime, homeless, horrible living conditions of many sections. The Democrats don't care that people suffer, or they would have addressed these problems decades ago. They know that city dwellers will blindly vote Democrat, so don't have to care.

I really do not think people on drugs or the homeless vote. Do you really think that?

The inner city poor vote Democrat, and yes I have seen homeless driven to the polls to vote Democrat.

A one hour video news program regarding the effects that the homeless & drug addicted population is having on everyone else
KOMO News Special: Seattle is Dying

Haven't seen the video, but took a look at the homepage. Komonews seems to be a sensationalist, tabloid rag. A quick look at some data on Seattle indicates the city is growing at a healthy clip, and seems about as far away from "dying" as it possibly could. That doesn't mean the city doesn't have problems, and homelessness and drug problems usually indicate underlying societal problems, the cutthroat competition for scarce and increasingly pricey homes being just one of them. That would indicate the video is intended to blame the homeless and drug addicts for these underlying problems, and thus divert attention away from them.

Thankfully, Seattle appears to wise up to, and address, these problems, changing zoning regulations and ramping up construction. Nope, Seattle is not dying. Just reason and decency are dying under the onslaught of hysterical hyperventilation and poor-shaming.

Komo is one of about 4 local news stations. It's not a tabloid by an stretch of the imagination.

Had you watched the video you'd know what the actual problem is and the story was not to denigrate the homeless, it was to show that non-enforcement of our present laws is execerbating the problem, enboldening those who are drug addicted into committing more crimes because they know they won't be punished for them.

It also featured a highly successful program for treating drug addiction via the Rhode Island correctional system by continuing to treat the inmates once they've been released. Currently they have a 93% success rate and none of the problems featured in the video currently plaguing Seattle.

I don't live in Seattle but I work there sometimes and have seen firsthand many of the problems outkined in the article. The police are frustrated and understandably so, as are business owners and residents. This mess is why Amazon was threatening to pull out of one of it's multi-million dollar construction projects in downtown Seattle to move elsewhere in the metropolitan area until the Seattle City Council backed down on the head-tax they were trying to impose on them.

.....isn't the root of most of these problems [ crime/homeless ] the parents not being financially/mentally/maturely responsible??
....now I know there are black sheep in the family--you can raise the kid perfectly and yet they still will go ''bad''---but this can't be account for a ''big'' percentage of homeless/addicts/etc??? or can it?
