Search to begin for remains of Capt Robert Nairac, murdered by IRA in 1977

I doubt that they will find anything. Its a shame for the families.

I wonder what Nairac was really doing in that dirty war ?

That we will never know.
He was undercover by all accounts SAS, i must say if that was the case i can't believe how naive the authorities were thinking they could insert him into that very closed community, friend of mine lived in Ireland for years in a small community in Donegal his wife was from there, he went to the pub one night in the village with his Brother in law he was told afterwards the locals knew who he was and the IRA were in the pub that night along with a local Police officer, he never came to any harm while living there as a Englishman.

That isn't murdered, that's called killed in action you dingle berry.

You really should find a different source of news, if that is how this slipshod organization is going to report things.

The Guardian is warping your small little mind, clearly.

So by your logic, is what the US does to its enemies at Gitmo, that murder then?

:dunno:

Yes, i can't remember the IRA taking prisoners and still lived to talk about it, i didn't support the British State with everything they did in Northern Ireland i think Ireland should be one Country, but make no mistake the PIRA were psychotic terrorists, i know because i was around in the 70s when the violence was at it' worse, had two Cousins who served in the Army at that time, they told me both so called loyalist and Republican groups were as bad as each other and were attacked by both.

Pretty much..

This was the first IRA atrocity when three young Soldiers were murdered after drinking in a Belfast pub, since then the killer has been named as a former British Army Para who joined the IRA as the troubles started, it's clear the man was a psychopath he died a free man in Hospital, so the PIRA have a long history of murdering unarmed people.

The british govt is desperate to avoid any discussion of the dirty war in Ulster. Not sure what this has to do with anything related to Nairac.
Indeed that is correct, it was a very dark and murky business we have to be honest about what happened and that includes murders and collusion by the British State, but that does not excuse what the PIRA did.

I wonder if that chance has gone.
