So a half dozen white teens got into a fight with a half dozen black teens on a train in 1931. The white teens lost.

The white teens said they were assaulted by the blacks.

The train was stopped and all the black people on board where arrested. Once the black teens were identified, they became the Scottsboro boys. They were locked inside of the Scottsboro jail.

But it doesn't end there. Two white women came forward and said the black teens had raped them.

A doctor examined the women and found no evidence of rape.

As was the norm back in Alabama in those days, a mob formed. They were going to take the boys out of jail and hang them on the spot. There were at least a thousand people in the mob.

Sheriff Matt Wann stood in the doorway of the jail and said he'd shoot the first man who entered. This is possibly the bravest thing I've ever came across. He was very much alone.

So Sheriff Wann saved the life of those young men.

An all white jury found the boys guilty.

The trial went all the way to the Supreme Court who declared a mistrial.

One of the white women recanted her story.

The trial wound up in the Supreme Court a second time after another all white jury found the men guilty.

Eventually, it became a screwed up mess.

The sheriff died under mysterious circumstances and some believe the KKK was involved.

I guess there are a lot of brave acts in war, but that's sort of expected and there are lots of opportunities to be brave.

Do you know of a brave act?

Do you know of a brave act?
Anecdotally?

My old Engine company lieutenant

Always the last man out......

The engines start pulling back, lines and all, blowin' their horns

Saw the dude appear numerous times from an inferno collapsing seconds behind him.....

knuckin' futts!

Being a victim of an apparent miscarriage of justice is neither brave or cowardly.

A lot of this kind of stuff happened back when Alabama was a liberal utopia. Look it up, leftist kingpins delivered Alabama to libs like FDR by huge margins, just like San Fran and Chicago are delivered for Obama and Sleepy Joe today.

One of the Scottsboro men escaped prison and made it up to the state of Maine. The governor of Maine refused to extradite him back to Alabama, citing the sham of a trial.

Of all the people, Governor Wallace of Alabama, the guy who tried to blocked the black girl from entering the university at Alabama, he pardoned the Scottsboro boys about 20 years after they were in prison.

Alabama governor in 1931 was Ben Davis a democrat, succeeded by Meek Miller, a democrat. Are lefties willing to concede that the early 20th century crooked Southern political system was dominated by the democrat party?
