I think her kidnappers knew who she was and due the celebrity of her daughter believed that a large ransom would be paid for her.
I believe they likely killed her and buried her soon after the news got out due to the media coverage.
I believe they abandoned any ransom plan believing that they would certainly be caught if they went ahead with it.
I believe that eventually someone will tip off the police concerning this and the perps will be caught.

I agree with all of the above except that I think she died during the kidnapping due to her weak heart. In short, I don't think killing her was part of the plan.

Are you kidding? That'd be the first thing you should do.

As anyone who watches CSI can tell you, a dead body is the source of all sorts of forensics. Maybe she scratched one of them, maybe they got some of their DNA on her, maybe they left fibers on her that could be traced back to them.
