“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
In a national emergency where the President of the United States struggles to maintain border security, those words from the statue of Liberty still have meaning but they have been replaced by liberal democrats and prostituted cheap-labor republicans in sanctuary cities with “not in my back yard!” The poor and the huddled masses from South and Central America that were baited by politicians to drag innocent children across thousands of miles of dangerous territory are being met by rich sanctuary cities with “get off my lawn!”
In a contemporary cultural atmosphere where rich liberals commit fraud to get their kids into top colleges and celebrities stage fake hate crimes to incite riots, it seems fitting that the tempest –tossed homeless are being told by moneyed, sanctuary city leaders that there’s no room at the inn. What people are seeing as this fiasco unfolds is anybody’s guess but we can only hope that the entire country hasn’t been swindled of its common sense by a corrupted, propagandizing mass media that has failed to overthrow the results of the last election.
Given that about half the country is viewing reality through the distorted lens of Trump Derangement goggles it’s doubtful that the breathtaking hypocrisy of sanctuary cities is recognized for the fraud that it is. It’s also doubtful many know that though there were a few sanctuary cities in the US before Trump, the majority of them sprang up after the election in order to hinder attempts at border security.
Like many strategies that backfire, sanctuary cities must now rally against the president’s suggestion that asylum seekers be escorted to and concentrated in the sanctuary cities that thumbed their noses at immigration laws and invited them to overrun US borders.
All the love and welcoming packaged in those invitations is suddenly drying up as sanctuary cities realize that putting your money where your mouth is has consequences. The rest of the country sees this and recognizes the hypocrisy. There’s a humorous aspect to this that can’t be overstated.
Sanctuary cities refusing asylum seekers are bringing a knife to a logical gunfight as they oppose the president. The drooling apoplexy of Trump haters can’t stop his re-election.
