Gleefully watching leftist cities go down the drain is a hobby of mine, so I was interested to see the mayor of the shittiest of all shithole cities slowly come to the realization that a filthy, lawless wasteland may not be the best place for folks to live.

San Francisco Mayor: We Should ‘Get Rid of Most Taxes’ to Attract Businesses

During a portion of an interview with CNBC’s Deirdre Bosa aired on Wednesday’s broadcast of “The Exchange,” San Francisco Mayor London Breed stated that if she could, she “would get rid of most taxes on the books” tomorrow in order to help attract business to the city and argued that the tax system needs a complete overhaul so it works for the city and businesses.

Breed said, “Well, first of all, I would — if I could do it tomorrow morning, I would get rid of most taxes on the books. I want to also be clear that businesses need to pay their fair share. But not at the expense of losing business as a whole. So, I would completely reform the tax system to make it more fair, to make it more equitable, and to make it work for both the city and those businesses. I would also make sure that the streets and the city is clean and it’s safe, because we need to make sure that, as people come here on public transportation, as they move around the city using different modes of transportation, that they’re getting to work safe and they want to be here.”

Another attempt to dodge the real issue, the lack of will to prosecute criminals properly.

Most businesses are OK with paying reasonable taxes if they get value for their payments.

What value do current SF businesses get for their taxes?

She would just raise upfront fees to get her money before collapse. Why wait for tax dollars to trickle in.

No law-abiding people are getting ANY benefits from living in San Francisco (or most other leftist cities). Criminals run the show and collect all the benefits in these places, which is exactly the way the DemoKKKrats who run them want it.

0% Taxes is absurd, infrastructure at minimum needs to be built.
Tax incentives are necessary to attract businesses. Businesses are assuming risk (not the government). In the case of San Francisco, that risk is further exacerbated given their failed and lax policy on crime. Businesses also create more tax revenue for the government in terms of sales tax and payroll tax. Where tax/hungry governments fail is when they pile on egregious level of taxes which naturally forced the business to look to more business-friendly state and local.

Wow, well if that is not doublespeak 101 I have no idea what a better example would be.

Wow...talk about someone who has ZERO idea how businesses run! She puts in place policies that turn San Francisco into a crime ridden open cesspool and then thinks she can get businesses to come back to the city if she makes some vague promise to reform the tax system? They know you're full of shit, London! You created the mess and you're not changing the policies that did it...so why would any rational person think that things are going to get better? Those businesses aren't coming back until the city is run by someone they trust and THAT is not you!

She doesn't want to piss off the cult. If she actually took a conservative stance on taxes and crime, her city would be in flames by noon today. That's how you people roll.

Here is the problem. This doesn't include court costs and police budgets.

How much does it cost to incarcerate an inmate in California?

  • It costs an average of about $106,000 per year to incarcerate an inmate in prison in California.
  • About three-quarters of these costs are for security and inmate health care.
  • Since 2010-11, the average annual cost has increased by about $57,000 or about 117 percent. This includes an increase of $20,800 for security and $19,000 for inmate health care. Significant drivers of this increase in costs were employee compensation and activation of a new health care facility. In addition, the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic also contributed to higher costs in 2021-22.

She didn't create the problems in SF, decades of leftists "leadership" did that. She just perpetuated them.

Not exactly adding to the incentive for a business to locate or continue, is it?

What exactly is their fair share if they wouldn't have to pay taxes? Sounds like she is just grasping at straws to not say, "We have no clue what to do"
What's laughable is that London doesn't seem to grasp that if a business doesn't turn a profit because shoplifters are stealing them blind...then the tax rate means ZERO! If my business is losing money then I'm not paying taxes anyways! Duh? Liberals are so bad when it comes to simple Economics it's scary!

Eliminating taxes for businesses is stupid, if there's no other avenue of funding for the city to replace such radical tax cuts. Unlike the federal government, local and state governments can't just print money to pay their bills. What San Francisco has to do is round up all of these homeless drug addicts and force them into rehab. I believe Trump's idea is quite good:

As a socialist, I usually don't agree with him in the area of economics and a few other issues, but I do agree with his plan to clean up our streets from drug-addicted, homeless people who are literally destroying communities, where they're allowed to. Drug dealing should be made a capital crime in this country, and drug addicts should be forced into drug rehab. That's the actual Marxist method of eliminating homelessness and substance abuse. We house people, BUT if they're addicted to drugs, we institutionalize them, until they get well. Then we house them and help them find a job. The drug-dealers are executed, before a firing squad.

Personally, I think she is a lying piece of shit. Let's hear her say the same thing with the power to actually do it. She would go silent. But, yes, it is fun to watch liberal policies sink the Titanic.

Get rid of the criminals, get rid of the dopeheads, get rid of the shitty dregs of society, hire more cops and let them do their job how they should.

Businesses will come back faster than they would imagine.

It isn't the taxes that drive businesses away. They are driven away because it's a shitty city run by shitty liberal progressive politicians that have no morals, values, standards and pride.
