Fatties are a huge medical problem that the rest of us pay for. Fat-shaming is good.

dec 17 2024 The San Francisco Health Department hired a ‘fat positivity’ influencer to consult on “weight stigma and weight neutrality.”

The new weight stigma czar, Virgie Tovar, is a self-described expert on “anti-weight-based discrimination.” Virgie Tovar’s website describes her as a “plus-size Latina author, lecturer, and leading expert on weight-based discrimination and body positivity with over a decade of experience.” In 2011, Tovar completed a Master’s degree focused on the study of how weight-based discrimination impacted lifelong gender trajectories in women of color.

My best friend dated a fativist a few years back. She was so lazy, couldn’t walk anywhere. My friend put on so much weight being with her.

Not all people are fat because they're lazy.
A lot of people have medical issues which can cause weight gain and hinder weight loss.

Sometimes it's genetic. Sometimes it's a result of stress, anxiety, and and bad jobs.

I saw a very large person or two today. It seems very obese people are showing up younger and younger, this is a horrible reality today.

Being obese is a self-inflicted problem and increases health risk factors across the board. The drug industry and "healthcare" industry just LOVES fat people. Nuff said.

And I always thought it was the constant stuffing their pie-hole with food.

Sometimes.

Sometimes not.

There are areas in the hypothalamus of the brain that can make you eat a lot.

And there are metabolic issues that can make you obese no matter how much you eat or don't eat.

As you say, being too heavy is unhealthy.

Most people fluctuate, they have a natural setpoint that "feels right".

Some people don't have one.

There is also such a thing as a food addiction, which can take many forms. (It doesn't have to be sugar). Some people are predisposed to alcoholism, others are predisposed to obesity.

I know a guy who lost 300 pounds. There is hope.

I'm not sure of the best way to work with fat people to decrease their weights but I don't see how hugging them and telling them that they should feel good about themselves is the best way to handle it.
