SAGINAW, MI — A jury took less than two hours to find Saginaw City Councilwoman Monique Lamar-Silvia guilty on four charges — including two felony counts — related to allegations she falsified three signatures on Eric Eggleston’s Saginaw City Council candidate nominating petition last year.
The jury also found codefendant Eggleston guilty of all three charges against him, including two felony counts, which includes a conspiracy charge.
Michigan law states both defendants could face up to five years in prison for the conspiracy conviction.
The verdict arrived Friday, June 27, after a two-day trial.
Lamar-Silvia was charged and found guilty on felony counts of conspiracy and forgery as well as misdemeanor counts of signing multiple names on a nominating petition and providing false statements related to election petitions.
Eggleston was charged and found guilty of conspiracy and forgery felony charges as well as a separate state election law misdemeanor count of signing a nominating petition as a circulator when he was not the circulator.
The "usual suspects" on a city council sure but the worst part is they are waffling on getting shed of her.....What the heck is wrong with those people?

After felony sentencing, Saginaw charter could force out councilwoman
Legal experts disagree on whether city charter will automatically remove Monique Lamar-Silvia for felonies tied to falsifying election petition signatures.
