I recall before the fall of the USSR, much of my wife’s extended family was behind the iron curtain. Her dad left behind four sisters and a brother and her mom left behind 3 brothers and 2 sisters. All had children in the intervening years. We were able to meet many of them after independence, when they visited us. All said they never believed the media during Soviet occupation. Sadly many Americans aren’t as smart.
