Running gun battle in Melbourne, Australia....back in march....how did we miss it...

You would think that in a country that confiscated guns a running gun battle in one of the major cities of that country would make some news......apparently not....

Number of shootings in Melbourne area continues to rise

Three people will appear in court in Geelong after shots were fired between two moving cars on Thursday night, as the problem with gun-related violence in the Melbourne area continues to escalate.

The shooting at Geelong and another separate incident at Frankston brings to 10 the number of shootings in the Melbourne and Geelong areas since February 2.

Three people were arrested after shots were fired between two moving cars just before 6:30pm at Norlane.

How does gun related violence continue to escalate in a country that confiscated guns?

What kept the people in these cars from going to a school, a mall, a theater, or a church...and shooting a whole bunch of people.....? Was it the gun confiscation? The extreme gun control laws?

Or simple luck?....and that the shooters decided not to.....

Police will call on the Victorian Government to toughen firearms laws in a bid to tackle escalating gun violence between feuding drug dealers.

There have been seven shootings in Melbourne in the past week, including a drive-by incident in Sunshine West on Tuesday night.

Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill said he was very concerned with the number of shootings in the state since late last year, driven by "crooks" who know each other.

"A lot of it is drug related and what's occurring is, when our officers are turning up at the scene to investigate, we're having people who are saying 'I don't know what happened'," he said.

"We have people standing there, they've been shot and they're not assisting us at all."

Well, they are obviously being smuggled in by the drug dealers and gun traders. If a government cannot enforce their border and shipping lines, then they are incapable of offering their citizens security, This is probably why it doesn't hit the news. they dont want to admit they fucked up and cant protect their people. Yet they are asking the citizens to do just that. hmmm sounds familiar, I would imagine the political class in australia has no problem securing an armed body guard if they need one.

The only thing you can do...arrest them when you catch them.....and when you catch them you lock them up for a long time.....

Gun law is no different from any other law.....we have speed limits, and for the most part law abiding people obey them.....when someone speeds, they get punished.....

Gun laws are the same...normal, law abiding people obey them...criminals do not....

The law cannot stop you from speeding...can it? We can just push you when you do....

THe law cannot physically stop you from getting a gun illegally....the only thing we can do is arrest people who use guns to commit crimes, and arrest felons who are not allowed to own or carry guns when we catch them with guns.

Background checks are easily gotten around by criminals....

Licensing gun owners? CRiminals can't own guns so can't get a license for a gun..but would still get guns.

Registering guns....did you know that in the Haynes v. UNited States, the Court said it was unConstitutional to require criminals to register illegal guns? It violates their 5th Amendment protection against self incrimination. So the only people who would be required to register their guns.....law abiding citizens.....and even that should be unConstitutional.......

And gun registration has been tried in Canada most recently...and failed...it cost more in money and manpower to do and they couldn't even register their long guns...

-- wrong...I think people have a right to carry a gun for self defense, and if they want the best method to survive a violent attack, they should buy, train with and carry a gun.

-- there is no correlation between our crime rate and gun ownership.........more Americans now own and 13 million Americans carry guns for self defense...and our gun murder rate and our gun crime rate has gone down...a lot. That is a fact.

There is a high correlation between young males raised by young, single teenage mothers and gun crime.....you could put a gun in every Amish home and the gun crime rate in that community would still be zero.
