Franklin Roosevelt, our 32nd president and the only US president to be elected four times, was a very lucky man. He was born and lived long before Nancy Pelosi. He never had to face accusations that he was unfit for office because he became infected with a dangerous virus that was running rampant in the world as well as the United States. He never had to be concerned about a rabid California politician demanding to know exactly when he came down with the disease suggesting that he was fooling the American people and was likely crazy as a result of the illness.
Roosevelt, like Trump, was a change agent that came along when the country was facing many challenges. The entire country was in a great depression and the people wanted change. Roosevelt ran on policies to expand government and create programs to help people survive the poverty and joblessness that was ubiquitous at the time. His first term in office would probably have been his last if the 1933 Republican Party had used American intelligence agencies to undermine his administration and spread a false scenario that he was in cahoots with foreign enemies. He, like Trump, would have been accused of stealing the election and efforts to overthrow that election would have been unrelenting.
Roosevelt did expand government to create jobs and the country did climb out of deep hole with the help of a massive recovery effort after WW2. Unfortunately, the growth of government grew to such an extent that it today threatens democracy itself. Roosevelt, like Trump, was the man of the moment and he used more government as a remedy because it worked at the time. But government growth is out of control and now Roosevelt’s party is conspiring with global cohorts to destroy the US middle class.
Today Trump is the man of the moment and he is leading the charge to limit government and bring back the middle class. Can you imagine what would have happened to the country if Nancy Pelosi had been Speaker of the House in the 1930’s? She would have tried to use the 25th Amendment to imply that Roosevelt was insane due to medication he was taking for Polio. Roosevelt might never have existed as the only four-time president and history would be changed forever.
We need to take a long hard look at people like Pelosi and what they are trying to do to our country.
