Nothing but bad news from all over the world as far as solar is concerned.

The Chinese solar industry has also collapsed. There's still some hope for utility scale solar fields however they still need to be massively subsidized in order to compete. The reason being the simple math of requiring more investment than it can offer in returns.

Hydrocarbons have a 10 million year Head start on solar. After all it's all solar energy in the end isn't it?

Nothing the Left promotes ever has any success at all without first being subsidized with taxpayer money through force of law while likewise hitting users with steep penalties if they fail to buy into it.

Then democrats report it all a glowing success.

Turned out to be quite the catastrophe

quit trying to make sense Toob........ ;) ~S~

It also because states like CA screwed over solar users.

They used to get the retail rate (what they pay for electricity) for excess energy sold back to the grid but CA was losing too much revenue so now they only get the wholesale rate so solar ended-up never being able to pay for a homeowner's investment into rooftop solar.

I have no complaints. We went solar two years ago. While everyone was complaining about their summer electric bills hitting $500, $600, $700 a month ours was $19 plus the $91 we pay on the solar loan each month. Hard to complain about that.

But you invested HOW MUCH in installing the solar? So the real question is: after those two years, when do you break even and begin actually saving money?

Jesus.
I can run my air all month during the summer and never reach above $130.
Winter my electric runs about $75 per month. Gas no more than $100.

Either those people have too much house and/or you folks are getting screwed for rates.

I've installed many gross generation meters that take off from net meters Taz
yes, it works on an individual level, seen it firsthand, have parts/plans on my farm to do the same....

you want to save a little $$$ on your 'lectric bill, why not, go you

Just know that my trade is the most expensive fuel, which the creation of pollutes no less , it's just that it's pollution you don't see, vs that which you do

The minute subsidies expire for it all, and they need to compete on the private market said revelations will come to the forefront

Actually, CA utility users that put excess back into the grid were reimbursed at peak, or premium, rate during that time. Now it is just lowest rate I am told. A good friend has a solar setup and he still thinks it is returning more on his investment. I question it when it comes down to replacement of the solar AND the extra cost for roof replacement down the road. IDK. Maybe it works for them in that area---it is definitely a loser in this area---49 degrees N. latitude.

Rates very by state, of course. I also don’t know where you live, but I doubt it’s the desert southwest where we do and where daily summer temperatures are well over 100° even at night.

The SW has 50 yr "tile" roofs. Don't see much solar? How do they attach it?

net or gross Concerned one?

Only what is returned to the grid as in you produce what you use and whatever is over what your meter shows is refunded to you, previously paid at peak rate. My friend explained that the 'settle-up' is done annually. I actually did see his meter run backward while I was there. That's money to the good. However as relluc stated, it is not refunded at premium rate anymore. So in answer to your question, I suppose it is net.

MN where temperatures reach 90 with 80% humidity. Feels worse than desert heat. The air runs all night.
Also where -35F is normal and our gas rates are very reasonable.

You are getting screwed.
