Murray is about to lose his match against Wawrinka, he lost the first two sets and is down 3-0 in the third.

Americans did well today...

Sofia Kenin, Amanda Anisimova, Katie Volynets, Sebastian Korda, and Brandon Nakashima (beating fellow American Moreno de Alboran, whom I'm not familiar with).

J.J. Wolf, who got in as a Lucky Loser (meaning he lost in the final round of qualifying but got an entry into the tournament when a player withdrew from the main tournament), lost easily to Carlos Alcaraz. Maybe J.J. needs to bring back the mullet and goatee. Looks like a completely different person out there without.

Biggest upsets on the men's side were Frenchman Hugo Humbert (seeded 17) losing to the Italian Lorenza Sonego, and Chilean Nicolas Jarry (seeded 16) losing to a Frenchman in Corentin Moutet.

Biggest upset on the women's side was 2021 French Open Champion Barbora Krejcikova (seeded 24) losing to Viktorija Golubic. #29 Seeded Veronika Kudermetova lost to Marie Bouzkova, thought that one didn't surprise me.

Nice seeing Richard Gasquet turning back the clock for an effective three-set win.

The three Chinese women named Wang all advanced. I'm still waiting a match between a Wang and a Chung. Everybody will have fun tonight when that happens (bad music joke, sorry).

Stay tuned for tomorrow when 14-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal faces Alexander (Sascha) Zverev in the last match of the day session.

It would be interesting to see Novak's fitness in this match after his 3:00 AM finish in the previous round.

Thank you for keeping track.

I suspect viewership this year will not be as high as in past years with the Big Three competing against each other...although it was boring seeing Nadal win every year.

It was more fun watching when Sampras was the king of the hill, so to speak. To me, it is no fun watching these matches where every point is a marathon of ground strokes until one of them makes an unforced error.

Women's Quarterfinal matches are almost set...

1) Swiatek
5) Vondrousova

3) Gauff *
8) Jabeur

12) Paolini
4) Rybakina

Gracheva or M. Andreeva
2) Sabalenka

The top 4 women are all looking good reach the semifinals.

Since Swiatek's 2nd round scare, she's been playing strong and bageled her previous opponent (but don't rule out Vondrousova's chances as a former runner-up). Gauff has looked strong in all her matches, winning in straight sets in both singles and doubles, but the tricky Ons Jabeur might be the best bet for an upset. Rybakina has won in straight sets as well. Sabalenka hasn't given up more than 2 games a set in the past five sets.

Djokovic barely survived his match against Cerundolo. But as of this posting, there is a question of whether he'll be able to compete in his quarterfinal match against Casper Ruud. We'll see in the next few hours to a day. Alexander Zverev survived another 5-setter. Medvedev is the highest seed (#5) to be eliminated.

The last American male (Taylor Fritz) was eliminated

Men's Quarterfinal matches...

1 (seed) Djokovic
7) Ruud

4) Zverev
11) DeMinaur

9) Tsitsipas
3) Alcaraz

10) Dimitrov
2) Sinner

And catching up on the women's side, 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva claimed the final quarterfinal spot

With defending champion Novak Djokovic withdrawing before his quarterfinal match because of a torn meniscus in his right knee suffered in his previous match, Casper Ruud gets a bye into the semifinals.

And as a result of Djokovic's exit, come Monday when the ATP rankings are updated, Italy's Jannik Sinner become the new world #1.

Men's Semifinals
(7) Casper Ruud vs. (4) Alexander Zverev or (11) Alex De Minaur
(3) Carlos Alcaraz vs. (2) Jannik Sinner

Women's Semifinals

(1) Iga Swiatek vs. (3) Coco Gauff
(12) Jasmine Paolini or (4) Elena Rybakina vs. (unseeded) Mirra Andreeva or (2) Aryna Sabalenka

Djokovic pulls out with a torn meniscus according to reports. We could be seeing the end of the Big 4. Federer lost to Father Time, injuries took Murray and now it looks like injuries will get Nadal and Djokovic. The end of one the great eras of men's tennis? Alcaraz is the obvious choice as the next big thing, but some big shoes to fill.

The women will have a first-time finalist as the #2 and #4 seeds (Sabalenka and Rybakina respectively) fall.

A good tournament for the Italians as 28-year-old Paolini makes her first semifinal.

17-year-old Mirra Andreeva, the youngest semifinalist since Martina Hingis in 1997, upsets Sabalenka.

Men's Semifinals
(7) Casper Ruud vs. (4) Alexander Zverev
(3) Carlos Alcaraz vs. (2) Jannik Sinner

Women's Semifinals

(1) Iga Swiatek vs. (3) Coco Gauff
(12) Jasmine Paolini vs. (38 singles ranking) Mirra Andreeva

Women's semifinals are played on Thursday.
Men's semifinals are played on Friday.
Women's championship is played on Saturday.
Men's championship is played on Sunday.
Doubles are getting near the end, either playing quarters or semis Thursday, as are the juniors and wheelchair events.
🎾

Addendum:
The first match on the main show court Thursday will feature the mixed doubles final.
The American-Brit pair of Desirae Krawczyk and Neal Skupski will face off against the German-French team of Laura Siegemund and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

The women's semifinals will begin sometime after the conclusion of the mixed double final.
