RIP Johan

The Prince of Delight

We always think of the sad feeling when a great titan of sports leaves our world and passes into the afterlife.

However, Johan Cruyff was very unique. A key member of Holland's mighty Total Football philosophy national soccer team which reached the World Cup Final in 1974, Cruyff was the undisputed 'king of kamikaze soccer' and 'stylish teamwork captaincy.'

Many soccer fans consider Johan Cruyff to be the only substantial soccer legend to rival Diego Maradona of Argentina (the magic-man of World Cup 1986).

So I was thinking that we should commemorate Cruyff's passing by thinking a bit about all the nifty things that happened in sports today:

1. Oregon defeated defending champion Duke in the NCAA men's basketball tournament
2. JJ Redick hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer, helping his Clippers (NBA) team defeat the Blazers
3. Packers QB Aaron Rogers says in a podcast interview he believes he saw a UFO in 2005
4. Tim Howard says he's happy to be back in-sync with the US national soccer team for coach Jurgen Klinsmann
