the problem with talk radio is there is no real reason to listen to three hours of any given show - and all the shows are so similar that there's no real reason to listen beyond one show.

Let's take Sean Hannity for example. He has a three hour show. Fully a third of that will be commercials so we're down to two hours. Then we have intros and bumpers and self promotion which would (without taking a stopwatch to it) add up to at least another 20 minutes. So we're down to 100 minutes.

Then there are the callers - repetitive, mindless, and often incomprehensible. they take up a good portion of the show - let's call it 15 minutes an hour.

so for those doing the math that's 180-60-20-45 = 55 minutes

so with 55 minutes of 'content' what do we get? i don't know about you guys but i often hear the same sound bites and montages day after day after day - that's gotta be a good 15 minutes of the remaining time. We also have guests - either the politician of the day that will be lobbed softballs for 10 minutes or the demon of the day that will be shouted over and asked when he stopped beating his wife questions. There's usually at least one of those segments each hour. So we're under a half hour of content. And what is that content? Part of it is banter amongst the producers and screeners and part of it, maybe 10 or so minutes each day - part of it is original content from the host.

Now why on earth would anyone need to listen to 180 minutes of radio each day to get 10 minutes of new, orignal content (must of which is just spluttering out old talking points)?

It's sort of like subscibing to Cosmo. New cover every month, same stories inside.

Funny how much the radio listening audience mirrors the general population.

The Republican Party is 90% white. Right wing radio is huge because there is a huge group that walk, looks and talks alike.

Then you look at "so-called" liberal radio. I don't even know what that is. Why? Because it mirrors the Democratic Party. There is Hispanic radio and as you go down the line, the stations narrow audiences are different slices of the Democratic Party. No wonder you need the word "diversity".

Much like the Democrat Party, the only Liberal Radio that was able to stay on the air in NYC is government supported NPR.

I would like to see hosts that discuss issues rather preach, interview the opposition rather than interrogate, and listen to callers from the opposition rather ridicule and censure. Don't almost all of those hosts take phone calls and have on guests with opposing views? Every one of them I listen too has opposing views on the show.

It must be books that you want to destroy? They almost all have one perspective, include Obama's. Should we start with burning his? Now for the record, I think you should be able to write, own or read books on Communism for example. We don't need censorship, we need more freedom. Democrats don't want freedom. They want total control what you watch, read, write or listen too.

Where is the "MSNBC Lies" campaign from the right? We all know they do lie, but we just change the channel. We truly support the 1st Amendment.
