Right to keep and bear arms....

Happy Fourth of July, America.

What's up Dell. Happy Holidays. Here is something that pisses me off. I will be traveling to Florida from Michigan. If I have the right to bear arms, why is it I can't keep my gun loaded and on me when I drive through Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia or in Florida? Maybe I can do it in Florida but not those other red states.

I'm not kidding. I think it's horse shit that I can take my gun to Florida with me but on the way it has to be unloaded and ammo kept in a separate part of the car. Talk about not being prepared.

I am seriously thinking of taking the chance and keeping it loaded and on me anyways but god damn no one wants to catch a felony and lose your right to own a gun either. If something bad does go down and I shoot, I might save and ruin my life with one shot. It's not right.

So what do you 2nd amendment people say to this rule that you can't freely drive from MI to FL with a loaded gun? Isn't that an infringement on my right to keep a gun on me so if the shit does go down I can defend myself?

maybe you should get on the 2nd A bandwagon and fight against these states with the rest of us,,

I have to ask,, what about cali and Illinois??
do their gun laws offend you??

Because your Democrats don't want CC reciprocity.

Yes. And I'm not trying to make this political because then we will just argue. This is something we both strongly agree with. An American woman or man should be able to keep a loaded gun on him as he travels throughout the USA and not have to take any test to do so. Doesn't do me any good if it's unloaded and the ammo is purposely hard to get to. That's a complete infringement on my right.

But wouldn't it be easier to get these laws passed in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida?

Is it that those red states don't want people who aren't residents in their states bringing guns in? For sure.

I mean I get why your government politicians and police don't want it.

Perhaps Trump and Mike Johnson could pass a federal law that it's legal.

I have a friend who's a Republican politician now but he used to be a cop. He is honest he thinks letting everyone/anyone conceal carry is a bad idea. I guess Republicans are conflicted on this.

Yes I will join you. It should not be a felony to carry a loaded gun if you have done nothing wrong. And no classes should be necessary. Do I need to go take a class in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida so I can carry my gun in their states?

what would be easier is if we all just followed the constitution and infringing on peoples rights,,

the fact you keep focusing on red states and ignore the blue states tells me you want to make this political,,

its sad really that some cant just go on principle and make every thing divisive,,

Sorry but I am putting this on red state hypocrisy. Trying to make a point. And you can't seem to get over it. This is how they divide us. We both agree on this yet you get butt hurt when I call your side out. I want to take my loaded gun with me on my ride to Florida. I should be FREE to protect myself when I pull over and walk my dog, gas up or get something to eat.

If any party or state is going to change the laws, it's yours.

Why don't you be honest. Do Republicans in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida want Michiganders driving into their states with loaded guns on us? Nope.
Yet I don't hear a peep out of 2nd amendment people.

The funny thing is, I see why they don't want that. But I want it for myself. I'm conflicted. I want it for me but not for everyone. Maybe they could pass a law that if you get a concealed weapons permit in MI, it's good in all 50 states.

The only time you can't have it on you of course is the airplane going to Hawaii. That I get.

That's okay. Try to get over it. We agree on something.

OMG, maybe this is something we can achieve!!!

As of late 2025, over half the U.S. states, including Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming, allow some form of permitless concealed carry (also known as "constitutional carry"), meaning eligible residents can carry a handgun concealed without a state permit, though age and other federal/state restrictions still apply.

Every state I drive through is on this list. Maybe I can. What makes me an "eligible resident"?

Holy shit I'm taking my gun to Florida! Why didn't you guys tell me I could???

Yes, Ohio has permitless concealed carry (often called "constitutional carry") for eligible adults as of June 13, 2022. This means that qualified individuals are no longer required to obtain a license, take a training course, or undergo a background check to carry a concealed handgun in most public places within the state.
Yes, Kentucky is a permitless carry state

Yes, Tennessee allows eligible individuals to carry a handgun (openly or concealed) without a permit, a law that took effect on July 1, 2021. This is often referred to as "permitless carry" or "constitutional carry."
In Georgia, a Weapons Carry License (WCL) is no longer required for a person who is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a firearm to carry a concealed handgun in most public places. This is due to the "Constitutional Carry Act" (Senate Bill 319), signed into law in April 2022.

That would make you an eligible resident I hope.

Oh shit. Are you saying a Michigander can't conceal carry through their states because I'm not a resident? I'll search for the answer. Please help. I don't want to make a mistake that gives me a felony. I hunt. Can't get a hunting license with a felony.

Nah. It's a process with me. Hey, look at how many times you post something wrong and just never admit it. Just move on. You've never been wrong on USMB right?
