Richard Simmons was hilarious. I remember when talk shows would have him on as a guest, and his demeanor and over the top queerness would have everyone laughing at him. It was a time when we were allowed to laugh at queers and fags.

When Eddie Murphy was on Saturday Night Live, he did a very funny parody that combined Richard Simmons with Little Richard. And he called it, of course, "Little Richard Simmons". It didn't seem to be mean spirited. RIP, Mr. Simmons.
