Because food dyes can't be sold unless the FDA (or somebody) approves them on safety.

Personally, I'm hording dyes for Red Velvet Cake and Green Beer. But at my age, I already have what's likely gonna kill me first.

Why not go for Artificial Growth hormones in Beef, most of the world bans that....

The problem is US food standard is to approve unless proven unsafe...

EU is banned unless proven safe.
