Restoration of Austria-Hungary

The United States should restore Austria-Hungary in the form of the United States of Great Austria.

It has 2 main goals:

1) gaining the USA a foothold in Europe

2) prevention of demographic catastrophe, destruction of Hungarians, Poles and Western Ukrainians, stopping German expansion.

The Polish people have no desire to be ruled by the Habsburgs again, and would prefer to remain independent.

I think that the Slovaks, Ukrainians, Czechs and Slovenians probably don't either.

Austria-Hungary of the 19th century is the fruit of the Great Hungarian Revolution and the Spring Of Peoples. This has nothing to do with the German totalitarianism of the old Habsburgs, and it was the freest country in Europe as the USA. Franz Ferdinand was a supporter of the liberalization of autonomies, if it had triumphed, the genocide of Poles in Western Ukraine could not have happened.
