Republicans introduce joint resolution proposing Congress Term Limit Amendment

I doubt that it will go anywhere, but this is the right way to do things.

They make it a 7 year delay to avoid any ex post facto implications.

Personally I would allow 12 years in congress, but this is a good start.
Pigs Sharing with Piglets

More proof that this is a bad idea. If politicians propose it, term limits can only mean an extension of their clique's power. They can go lobby now for the big bucks and let the crooks-in-waiting sit for them a while.

Agreed.
What the problem is, is voting for senators to begin with.

If they were appointed by Govenors instead of elections it would help the situation to some degree.
More Degrees of Separation from Us, the People

Quit misleading us to please your Masters. You want to fool the public into letting the state oligarchy choose who will represent us in the Senate.

Well, it would be a change of BB tactics....instead of senators getting the money directly in their pockets they would be heavily lobbied. Including state govenors.

Big business won't ever stop....the question is "How do we keep them from being influential?"
The Fewer There Are, the Easier to Bribe

They can't afford to bribe the whole public, which should be given veto power over laws passed by their so-called representatives.

I don't think Trump knows how to play a fiddle.

Toxic Bipartisan Fraternity Founded in 1841

If the tough and dominating general William Henry Harrison had served his full term, he never would have let the wimpy civilian Congress push him around like they did to the pushover John Tyler, who had good ideas but no force of character.

The courts have always had that ability, it's their reason to exist under Madison V Marbury.

They also have the ability to tell the legislature to firm up their lawmaking, they gave that up under Chevron wrongly, now they have taken it back.
John MarSHALL Shalt Not Make Commandments

President Jefferson completely opposed SCROTUS's usurpation of legislative power, forcing the supremacist court to back off for 50 years. Besides, Marbury was obiter dictum and therefore non-binding.

A key factor that will have to change for term limits to pass is to end the practice of filling committees by seniority. Generally speaking, the most important committee chair positions go to the most senior members of Congress.

basically the corporations and lobbyists already have their money tied into those in office and for the higher level incumbents, one would never get them out of office due to this money buy.
Their Job Is to Kill Jobs

Corruption is more than bribery. The Zero-Growth Jolly Green Giant infiltrates its disciples into the EPA, creating regulations on their own without political, corporate, or popular consent.

These people see politics as the "family business".
There's No Reason for Us, the People, to Honor This Honor System

There are junior members of that restricted family clique, too. Those are the only ones who will replace the ones who are term-limited. We're fed this distractive issue, which continues the impossibility of representative government, so we won't think about taking the laws back into our own hands.

"Consent of the governed" only means we resign ourselves to being ruled by a self-described elite because we can't do anything to change it in a system that lets only the fake representatives have the power to change things.
