Which now puts them on par with democrats. If the republicans really cared about their popularity they would let Obama have his tax increase to the rich. In fact, give them everything they are asking for in their economic plans. Who even cares?! And in that way Obama and the democrats now own this, so when it invariably fails the blame will be clearer. The irony here is that no matter what is proposed we (our economy and society even) are doomed. Some just make it happen a little sooner.

True. Republicans should just walk away, which is what most republicans want Boehner to do. Just walk away and put efforts elsewhere, such as setting up alternative policies. Establish the shadow government which is what democrats did so successfully to George Bush. Concentrate on state governments like Michigan.

There is no such thing as compromise with democrats. It's time to stop even the appearance of compromise.

Actually, they are leaning in favor of that. However, they are wanting Obama to sacrifice something in return, i.e. spending cuts. However, Obama is unwilling to budge. He'd rather do spending cuts later (Translation: Never) then do it now.
