Republican Medicaid Cuts Are Taking Millions Away From Those Collecting Benefits

Also, Medicaid is more gooder that Medicare for the recipient. No deductibles, no big co-pays (as a rule). A Medicare patient without a Medicare supplement (which is very expensive anymore -- Thousands!) could be on the Hook for TENS of thousands of dollars after some procedures. Medicaid is Welfare. No big deductibles.... Medicaid varies from State to State....... No huge Co-Pays... ALthough there are typically some. Those are, frankly, to keep people from parking their fat asses in Clinics, Doctors Offices and Hospitals all day long. Some people, the only human interaction they have are with Health Care professionals because they've run off everybody else or, just as likely, because their friends and relatives SUCK. Trust me on that one. I know wherefore I speak. Seen it hundreds of times. They treat going to the Doctor like it's a Social Function. 😥 It's all they have left.

My wife pays less for her supplement than she does for her Medicare premiums. I think you are exaggerating just a little.

Too bad you're not a Baseball Player, you're batting a 'thousand'

I am batting 1.000. You just proved my point. My wife pays exactly in that range on the lower end because we live in TN.

You are citing Florida, which is higher cost because of the number of retirees. Tried getting homeowners insurance there? Why is it so high? Hurricanes! Think health insurance might be higher for the same reason? Florida is a bad example all around. That's why AI is garbage.

I think we need to hold a forum class on why not to use AI as a reference. I see posts on the internet all the time using AI as the source and they could not be more wrong. The old axiom about "garbage in/garbage out" definitely applies to AI because it cannot discern data that is wrong.

Still batting a thousand -- Is Ohio over-crowded with retirees? California sure as HELL is NOT. Nobody retires in kaliphony. They can't afford it. Ohio? Yeah, right. Who retires in Ohio if they don't have to?

The reason your Wife's is so low is because you probably live in the sticks. Wish I did. But there's less fraud and fewer stinking, thieving, lying scumbag lawyers in the sticks. And less, much less, fraud.

Insurance premiums are "Area Rated". It's really simple, they takes it in with one hand and pays it out with another. If they need to charge more in one area than another due to Claims and Loss experience, they do.

If you pay less for a Medicare Supplement than average, good for you!! I'm happy for you. But don't steer the topic away from the fact that I was talking about the advantages of Medicaid over Medicare for its recipients. That they don't typically have to buy a Medicaid Supplement.... Mostly because there is no such thing. Saving themselves as much as thousands per year.

Stay focused.....!!

The average cost of a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan in Ohio for 2024 varies depending on the specific plan and individual factors. However, you can expect to pay anywhere from $129 to $364 per month for Plan G, the most popular plan, according to NerdWallet. Plan N, a mid-range option, can cost between $111 to $121 per month, according to ValuePenguin.

Cost of living is the term you are looking for. I live 45 minutes outside Nashville. Her supplement premiums were even lower in KY. There is rarely anyone that has a choice between Medicare and Medicaid and occasionally you can get both.

Do you have any idea what my premium was for COBRA coverage when my wife retired? I paid nearly $800 a month, and they paid for my liver transplant and associated pre-and post-op care. I consider that a bargain considering that without it, I was dead about two years back.

No, you're wrong again. Not even close.

I know what I'm talking about. Got very little to do with Cost of Living.

Insurance Companies "Experience Rate" and set their premiums that way. Actuaries. Not bean-counters, actuaries.

It is all related. My health insurance would not pay for my transplant in Tennessee. It did pay in Kentucky. Why? The cost of the hospital! After my transplant was over, within three months my insurance company called to tell me that they would now cover it in Tennessee, but since I already had it, they just wanted me to know they would have done so if I had it later. They had renegotiated a contract to pay for transplants at Vanderbilt at a much lower cost.

Actuaries calculate costs. That is why cost of living is so important. I find your comment funny, because actuaries are in fact bean counters. Once again, in your attempt to be disagreeable, you inadvertently prove me correct!
