Recent polling in the U.S. Senate race in Texas shows that if MAGA pushes Ken Paxton as their nominee over incumbent John Cornyn, he would lose the seat to Democrat James Talarico by three points, thus putting the seat in danger and forcing the Republicans to pour millions more into the race in order to defend it. Even against Jasmine Crockett, Paxton leads by only one. Paxton has been embroiled in multiple scandals over the years and was impeached from his position as Attorney General by his own party in 2023. He was later acquitted by the State Senate and remains in office.

1. He's young and fresh.
2. He's articulate.
3. He's high energy.

That is what people are looking for. All they know is that things suck as they are left them by Joe Biden, still not better enough yet under Trump, and they need change. Talarico is more change then Ken Paxton or Cornyn.

A lot depends now on things getting significantly better now this summer, because no one in the GOP in Congress has done jack to impress me so far.

If not for Trump and a handful of people around him, the entire GOP right now looks like a total gas bag of nothing again as usual.
