"When Democrats allow an outside, private consultant to question a witness this week, they broke House rules and granted those political consultants greater congressional privileges than they gave to elected representatives. Here’s why that’s a problem:"

Of course it was wrong on more than one level, but I suspect the last paragraph might be the key to why Dems wrongfully FORCED through their consultant against House rules. The Dems specifically WANTED this consultant to participate, when House staff could surely perform that role, because the consultant would NOT be held to the same ethical standards, outside income restrictions, limitations on lobbying, financial discourses and obligations of all House staff. Rules? The Dems never met a rule they wouldn't break!

The consultant was used, basically a paid for lawyer, to isolate the house members from the questions being asked.
Questioning by proxy so no one in the house can take responsibility for it. That is all it was.
