Remember when late night talk shows were entertaining?

It's not an age thing,
It is definitely not just an age thing!

it's Democrat controlled politics ruining late night "entertainment". Kimmel, Colbert, Myers are awful. Fallon is tolerable because he doesn't dwell on politics like the others do.
Late night is dead, it was taken over by the Left long ago as a medium for recruiting, reinforcing and brainwashing the simpleminded. I'd bet the audiences spend more time laughing at mean lies cracked about Trump and republicans than they do laughing at actual jokes. They use laughter as the medium of reinforcement of cultist ideas.

Carson had the giants of Hollywood on his show, people that would go on no other program and certainly wouldn't do the late night of today. The only reason most of us wouldn't know hardly any of the names on as guests on late night now is not because we are fuddy duddies, but because most all of the people they have on now stink, they have no talent, and were just born into Hollywood with a silver spoon in their mouth, they didn't MAKE Hollywood, scratching and clawing their way up from dirt.

The guests of today don't hold a candle to the likes of Bob Hope, Dean Martin, Lucille Ball, and a hundred others.

truth, guess you know when you are getting old when you have some snotty girl or some douchbag kid you never heard of, don't know what movies they were in, and frankly don't give a shit about them at all. most today are just self absorbed brats and I can't waste my time listening to them drivel about their life, how they party and spend money or what shitty movie they were in.

the golden age actors and comedians would go on a show like carson and actually be interesting and funny, you wanted to stay up to watch what they had to say..........those days are long gone, just a sign of the times

Most of the people Carson had on had so much talent that it just bubbled out of them, they couldn't hold it all in. They couldn't help but entertain you while they were there as a guest. People like Robin Williams, Don Rickles, and Johnathan Winters literally never stopped doing a comedy skit all the while they were telling you all about their life or something and they had the audience rolling in the aisles.

People literally planned for 11:30PM after the news and were sitting there in front of the TV with bated breath waiting for when the first notes of the NBC Orchestra with Doc Severinsen first came blaring out of the screen along with the voice of Ed McMahon.

I'm old enough to remember Johnny Carson who was the best late night host ever. He was always impeccably dressed, funny and had interesting guests. I don't recall politics ever coming up at all. The Tonight Show was an escape and it was enjoyable for every American to watch. Leno did a good job and even Letterman for the most part was watchable and funny.

Compare that to ANY of the late night shows we have now. Everyone of them have Trump hatred coursing through their veins as they make their entire show about bashing Donald Trump. How is that entertaining? Attacking the President, his staff and his family is all they do. How can Liberals even watch that, doesn't it get old?
The decline started after Jay Leno was host

And it wasnt gradual

The last two were horrible, imo

I'd say leno was the last guy who knew comedy, had his own skits he created and a monologue that was always funny, yeah after that it was a bunch of idiots with liberal writers who were just not funny
last night is dead, we will never see a shadow of carson in our lifetimes

craig feguson was funny in his own right, his quirks had him stand out from the others, he was witty no doubt and able to change the subject with ease

conan......he could be funny as well as daffy to make more comedy, but he did not bring politics into he routine like they all do today

Late night is now packed with political hacks who are about as funny as kidney stones.

They don't make 'em like Carson anymore. So-called comedy shows like Colbert have morphed into bitter partisan unfunny platforms for the left wing.
