Remember the line in the 'Blues Brothers' about being on a mission from god?

Do you see a difference between asking the cloud fairy for help as many people do when they are frightened and stating “The providence of our almighty God is there protecting those troops."
Key Instances of Invoking God:
  • Inaugural Address (1789): Washington’s first official act included a "fervent supplications to that Almighty Being" to bless the new government.
  • Oath Ceremony: On April 30, 1789, he took the oath with his hand on the Bible, specifically mentioning the covenant in Genesis. Many sources affirm he added the phrase "So help me God" at the end, sealing his vow to lead.
  • Thanksgiving Proclamation: He declared it the "duty of all Nations" to acknowledge, obey, and be grateful to "Almighty God".
  • Private and Public Faith: Washington often spoke of a "providential" hand guiding the American cause and considered religion and morality essential pillars of society.

While some scholars debate whether he was a devout Christian or more aligned with Deism, they agree he strongly believed in a "great and glorious Being" who controlled human events.

Your hated for mentions of God by American leaders is just one piece of the puzzle that is your extreme hatred of the United States.

Iran can't go toe-to-toe with the US, just can't.
Agreed. That doesn't mean the US may sustain a level of casualties Generalissimo trump may find unacceptable.

I don't blame you for not wanting to discuss Don's belief his life was saved by god. Perhaps because you believe it.
Trump can believe what he wants to, or not.
The simple fact that he leaned forward and turned his head to look at the screen at the exact instant the shot was fired, only grazing his ear instead of killing him was either extremely lucky, or a "Godwink", aka "Divine Intervention".

Hegseth Invokes Divine Purpose to Justify Military Might

More than any top American military leader in recent history, Mr. Hegseth has framed U.S. military operations in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America as bigger than politics or foreign policy. Often he has imbued these actions with a Christian moral underpinning that suggests they are divinely sanctioned.

It is this view of a higher power, married to lethal American firepower, that Mr. Hegseth says gives him confidence that the United States will prevail in Iran.

“Our capabilities are better. Our will is better. Our troops are better,” he said in a recent interview with CBS News’s “60 Minutes.” “The providence of our almighty God is there protecting those troops, and we’re committed to this mission.”

Hmmm. I guess god was on break when the 13 US soldiers died and approx. 200 were wounded during this "excursion." But hey, everybody needs some down time.

Not being a religious person it makes me squirm a bit when the protection of the cloud fairy is invoked..........really for any reason at all. Like when Don said god protected him from being shot and killed. Or even more disturbing, that he extended the life of a US congressman with a terminal condition. Not god, Don. Words can not express how batshyte crazy/scary it is that Don thinks he possesses divine powers. It's delusional. The kind of thing that gets people committed, not voted for.

In truth, god isn't protecting anyone and neither is allah. If either was the case Israel wouldn't be able to slaughter more people in Lebanon after killing tens of thousands in Gaza. There's nothing spiritual about blowing humans in to little pieces. Which is the part Pete doesn't acknowledge when speaking about the almighty.

Then, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, standing in the Pentagon, issued a call to the American people for a specific kind of wartime prayer. He asked them to pray for victory in battle and the safety of their troops.

“Every day, on bended knee, with your family, in your schools, in your churches,” he said, “in the name of Jesus Christ.”

C'mon, man. More like in the name of Bebe. Who has wanted a full scale war with Iran for decades and finally found a partner stupid and reckless enough to join him.

Cry more, loser.

Did you see that Iran fired two ICBMs at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, about 1800 miles?
That means that Iran could reach almost all of the EU capitals.
Pair that with 440 kg of 60% enriched uranium, enough for 10 bombs, and you have a real security mess.
To his credit Trump wants to end that threat ASAP.
The US military learned a lot in Iraq, AFG, and Ukraine, that Iran didn't learn.

The great thing about freedom to worship is that, people can have these opinions! And you can have yours if you don’t believe!

Ain’t America great?!

In your head what does the freedom to worship have to do with Hegseth...........Often he has imbued these actions with a Christian moral underpinning that suggests they are divinely sanctioned.

That's no more than superstition.

Read post #1.

That's no more than superstition.
So your opinion of George Washington is the same as your opinion of Pete Hegseth. Well admitted! Please don't backtrack and lose the smidgen of respect you just earned.

Your hatred is not for Pete Hegseth, or even for Donald Trump. Your hatred is for all that America has long stood for, and your goal is to tear it down, with a more vague goal of rebuilding it into some idealized non-failure version of all of the failed nations you admire.
