I'm curious. What is it that the CEO of Cigna has done to earn 73 million dollars? You do know where that money is coming from, right? How many policies do you have to skim to get 73 million dollars? How many people denied coverage? Come on now, think it through.

CIGNA insurance companys chief executive officer and chairman of the board H. Edward Hanways Dec. 31, 2009 retirement comes with a $73 million dollar bonus. Hanaway retired from his posts after serving for ten years in those roles. His overall compensation in 2009 exceeded $12 million.
According to Forbes magazine, Hanway ranked 135th, 53rd and 28th on its CEO pay rankings for 2009, 2008 and 2007 respectively. CIGNA ranked 621st and 381st on Forbes lists of the worlds 2000 biggest companies for 2009 and 2008, respectively.

Nearly 50 million Americans have gone without health insurance for at least part of the past year up from 46 million people in 2008, federal health officials reported Tuesday.
Those people included not only those Americans living in poverty, but an increasing number of middle-income people, according to a report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"The bottom line is that uninsurance of young and middle-class adults increased by 4 million people from 2008 to the first quarter of 2010," CDC Director Dr. Thomas R. Frieden said during a news conference Tuesday.
What's more, the number of people without insurance for a year or more increased from 27.5 million in 2008 to 30.4 million in the first quarter of 2010, Frieden said. "That's an increase of 3 million of chronically uninsured adults."
These findings debunk two myths about health insurance, Frieden said. "The first myth is that it's only the poor who are uninsured. In fact, half of the uninsured are over the poverty level," he said.
"The second myth is that it's only healthy people who are uninsured and that young healthy people make a choice not to have health insurance. In fact, more than two out of five individuals who are uninsured at some point during the past year had one or more chronic diseases," he said

OMG, you mean you don't know? Rupert Murdoch brought Prince Alwaleed bin Talal on board because their two shares, as the largest and second largest stakeholders, prevents any "hostile takeover". The "Prince" has boasted that he has changed Fox's programming. When you are part of a coalition that prevents a takeover, you have much more power, why? Because you could go to the "other side". I can't believe that right wingers listen to a faux news network whose owner is determined to bring down this country. On second thought, considering what right wingers are willing to believe, maybe it isn't really a stretch.
In an awkward moment on Fox News this week, a pundit suggested that a member of the Saudi royal family who has supported the bridge-building work of the imam behind a planned Muslim community center and mosque in Lower Manhattan funds radical madrasas all over the world. The awkwardness came from the fact unmentioned by anyone on the Fox set that the same Saudi, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, also happens to be the second-largest shareholder in News Corp., the parent company of the Fox News Channel.
