One way to compensate you is provide you with more government services. More affordable housing, healthcare, college.

Take for example Walmart. No matter what you do, no matter how many great jobs you bring back home, Walmart is never going to pay what Farmer Jacks paid people back in the 1970's. A person could raise a family on the wages back then. A waiter could raise a family. Some waiters made $100K a year in tips. Those days are gone.
