suing a POTUS isn't political though is it?
freaking morons should be sued for their stupid comments then sued again for dodging them ...
Impeachment is of course political by nature. It's a remedy within a political structure. And an impeachment as I have been learning by its very nature only punishes the President at the time.
On the other hand, this lawsuit will affect every President forever and a day once the Supreme Court makes a judgement.
Most interesting. I've been weeding my way thru various legal website and this is being taken very seriously.
It makes no sense to demand the drastic step of impeachment, which is highly unlikely to succeed. Furthermore, a Supreme Court precedent would be binding on future presidents.
Impeaching one president would not prevent the next president from the same violation.
More at link. Good read.
Articles: Boehner's Brilliant Lawsuit
That is what I said earlier. A law suit will not result in restitution....it will result in a precedent.
And a precedent will be there for ALL Presidents to abide by.....both republicans as well as democrats.
So this is not a political move. It is congress saying "wait a minute....we don't think you can do this and we sure as hell don't want others to do it in the future if we are correct...so we better have the courts determine its constitutionality"
Now, in this case, a President signed something into law and decided unilaterally, not to enforce the law via EO....and that can be very dangerous...
Think of a GOP President with a democratic house. What if that President opted to UNILATERALLY change the ACA and allow insurance companies to offer whatever dam plans they want to? How would that fly?
Democrats better use their heads on this one and support the law suit.
It is not politically.
It is congressional oversight.
