'Reactionary nihilism': how a rightwing movement strives to end US democracy

This Stewart babe seems to have a problem with organized religion. It should be noted that the babe goes after the easy target of Christians and ignores the impact of the Islamic jihad and the Koran that recommends death to unbelievers. How in the world can you make a case that religious freedom, guaranteed by the Founding Fathers in the 1st Amendment to the Constitution, is a threat to democracy? The premise is ludicrous unless you are a freaking Communist.
They go after Christians because the absolute worst thing a Christian will do in retaliation is pray for them.

Besides, they've been brainwashed into believing any criticism of Islam is Islamophobic.

The root of their animosity towards Christianity is not that they believe Christians are wrong...it's that they're afraid we're right, and they can't tolerate the idea of a power higher than their little-g god Government.

‘There is a “real and very, very present” threat to the US from a shadowy collection of rightwing leaders, a new book on the movement behind Donald Trump warns, with the aim being “an end to pluralistic democracy”.

Katherine Stewart, a journalist who specializes in the religious right, spent years researching the money and influence that has aided and encouraged tens of millions of Americans in their worship at the throne of Trump.

The result is Money, Lies and God: Inside the Movement to Destroy American Democracy, which sees Stewart explore the “antidemocratic movement” – an unholy mix of Christian nationalists, billionaire oligarchs and conservative ideologues who have seized control of the Republican party, and aim to fundamentally change the US.

“Money is a huge part of the story, meaning that huge concentrations of wealth have destabilized the political system. Second, lies, or conscious disinformation, is a huge feature of this movement. And third God, because the most important ideological framework for the largest part of this movement is Christian nationalism,” Stewart said.

In the book, Stewart details how Republicans have been held hostage by the antidemocratic movement, something that “came together long before Donald Trump descended on a golden escalator in 2015 to announce his candidacy for president”.’

“…long before Donald Trump descended on a golden escalator…”

Exactly.

Trump is the product of the fascist, reactionary right – fearful of positive, beneficial change, diversity, inclusion, and expressions of individual liberty; seeking to compel conformity and silence dissent through the tyranny of Republican minority rule.
Attacking the church and fear mongering is what Hitler did too

He lost

You did too

A unit. Someone impress me and tell me how much that is.
Doesn't tell me anything. A unit of what? In dollars a unit is like.0000000983 dollars or something like that.

That's for a No.1 Unit. I wonder if that's what the dipshit is talking about? He can't even use its proper designation if that is it.

I can't wait for the next 4 years to be over. When Trump will be out of office, and then we can hopefully move on from the rhetoric and propaganda from the left. The idea that Trump is this threat to democracy and will usher in some type of dictatorship based on oligarchy and or fascism is an old hat that the left continues to wear.

Look at this last sentence.
Trump is the product of the fascist, reactionary right
I do not know one person that is a Republican or a conservative, or even middle right that is a fascist. No one. Calling Trump a product, means this is by design. Trump has hinted at running for President for decades. Back in 1999, he explored the idea and hinted at this with Larry King. If anyone has produced Trump, it's the left for continuing to stretch and explode the gov't, spending, taxation. While being rich themselves, they have created this narrative that the 'rich' are evil. Trump came into 2015, as a candidate not in need of Washington, but washington in need of a 'Trump' type of candidate. Someone to 'drain the swamp'. A political candidate indifferent to the Washington lifestyle, someone who didn't need Washington. If anyone created Trump, it was the status quo in Washington and a current regime who wasn't putting America first.
– fearful of positive, beneficial change, diversity, inclusion, and expressions of individual liberty;
What that men can be women and women can be men? That men can get pregnant? That those sentiments have to be adhered too by EVERYONE, while seeing concessions being made in the scientific world. Then we have DEI, that says screw merit and is actually racist and bigoted in concept. If you have a candidate that is the best for a job, and you're going to instead select someone else because they fit into one of the many "diverse" boxes, you immediately create a selective and bigoted doctrine.

We have airlines that have said, they will not have best pilots, but instead have the best diversity. Okay.
Then you have this woman: Deputy Fire Chief Kristine Larson - Lesbian, who has gone on to say that people want fire fighters to show up that look like them and then says that if a man needs carried out of a fire, he should not have put himself in that position.

Perhaps DEI, in concept has good intentions, but when you have the above coming out as a result, perhaps this is what people are tired of. If the above was said by a white male, they would have immediately been fired and their life ruined. I think Larson still has a job, because she's a woman, and a lesbian.

seeking to compel conformity and silence dissent
Wait what. The left have been consistently the ones silencing dissent. Covid from a lab, you're a conspiracy. The dems conspiring with Social Media platforms to monitor what is said and squelch what they thought was disinformation. And if you don't agree with their ideology that you must conform and accept their agenda's, and you were public about it, they would try and cancel you.
through the tyranny of Republican minority rule.
Again, what? If you look at all the demographics that the left claim support, from the LGBTQ, African Americans, Immigrants, etc., THEY ARE THE MINORITY and make up a small percentage of our total populace. Yet, through rhetoric, propaganda, the MSM, cancel culture, they have tried to manipulate the majority.

Americans are tired of the shit.
