Unless it was with a BB gun, I can't imagine how he could have been shot 64 times in the head by any typical handgun caliber ammo. After about the 10th shot there wouldn't be enough of a head left to accurately characterize any subsequent shots as head shots. More like "shot 10 times in the head, 54 times in the puddle of mush where the head used to be."

Because it wasn't one shooter, it was a gang that did it. In the OP, it stated after they gunned him down, they all jumped into different cars and sped off.
