Senator: "apologize for all the lousy lies you've been saying about me for four years"

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has hit out at MSNBC, pledging not to appear on the network again until it “apologizes” for pushing “lousy lies” about his policies.

The Senator made the comments Wednesday night during a speech to the libertarian group Young Americans for Liberty. Earlier in the day, Paul had appeared on an MSNBC show to talk about criminal justice reform proposals. Instead, the anchor dredged up comments about the Civil Rights Act that Paul made four years ago, comments that have consistently been taken out of context and used by the network to bash the Senator.

MSNBC gets it's talking points direct from the White House. Sometimes that hot White chick reads texts from the White House directly off her blackberry.

There's no reason to take MSNBC seriously about anything. No one else does, their ratings are in the sh*tter.

Rand Paul did them a favor by showing up but they just couldn't resist.

Yeah, they are hacks. White House propaganda 24/7. I think he went on because he's trying to cross some ideological lines. Some of his positions can appeal to independent-minded Democrats. Probably just trying to broaden his base of support. I'm not sure it can work though. NBC is a Communist/Progressive nutter farce. I doubt going on that network helps his cause. But i can see why he does it.

Here's a real good clip with his father, Ron Paul, watch this yo.

But...he did directly say he opposes the government preventing private institutions from refusing to service minorities....

Rand Paul might just end up President. His position has not evolved, he simply at one point discussed in depth where he had disagreement with part of the CR act. Forcing business's to serve people is wrong and Rand is right on that issue. He even during the conversation that all the hacks love to cite said he does not agree with discrimination d feels it is bad business practice.

Rand is showing he is very willing to take the media head on and can win by being consistent. To tell the host "when you stop lying I'll talk to you again about the issue" is just amazing.

Would Rand make a good President, I dono... But if he runs he will be hard to beat.

Do me the favor and back your claim up with text/video. Do it or I'll assume you are going off memory and are wrong. I need a direct quote. Go get it.

It's hard to broaden your base of support on a network that doesn't have very many viewers in the first place.

Here is the interview... Nowhere does Rand say that "he opposes the government preventing private institutions from refusing to service minorities...

In fact if you watch the video (and you prolly never did) it's on the cusp of impossible to see Rand's position as racist. But as Rand said in this MSNBC interview, you guys lied and continue to lie. People like yourself hear the lie and that's all you know, so you hate Rand for reasons that where never even true.

Shit, you still hate the guy and this is after I proved you yourself just lied. I mean will you admit "Hey, dang I was wrong...."? It's only video of the interview with perfect audio proving you wrong. I doubt you will let the issue go.

Standard weaseling from Rand. He says he was never against the Civil Rights Act, even though he stated he was against one very important part of it, the public access part. His logic is that since he was for 9/10 the Civil Rights act, his statement that private businesses should be allowed to not serve blacks doesn't mean anything, and that the liberals are just big meanies for bringing it up.

Rand Paul?s rewriting of his own remarks on the Civil Rights Act - The Washington Post

Needless to say, he's toast as far as any presidential aspirations go. His weasel act plays well with his base, but everyone else sees through it. If he had guts and honesty, he'd explain his former statement, and why he's moved away from it.

Well again, we have a network working as a partisan tool for a president and a party.
Fox News did it with it's ties to Karl Rove/the GOP via Roger Ailes. And of course MSNBC has been a tool of Obama and the Dems.
It doesn't take a genius to see this if using an objective analysis. Neither one is acceptable and there should be outrage and disgust. This speaks volumes of our government using their friendly media tools to spew forth propaganda.

I hear ya. He gave it a shot though. Some of his positions can appeal to rational independent-minded Democrats. But i have to agree with you, it won't likely help in broadening his support. I don't think he'll be returning anytime soon.

Spoken like a true NBC viewing nutball. Good thing is, you're one of the very few left watching. :cuckoo:

Rand Paul would make a good presidential candidate because he seems to have appeal to people on the left as well as the right. He's gotten several standing ovations speaking to left wing audiences in very heavily Democratic enclaves like the San Francisco Bay Area. Of course, that doesn't mean at the end of the day those people will vote for him, so I'm not going to make any predictions this far in advance how well he would fare in an election. A lot of it also will depend on who his opponent would be. The far right nutters will also use his cross over appeal against him so who knows if he'll be able to make it through the primary.

Yeah, he's the only candidate out there who can cross some ideological lines. But that scares the hell out of the Communists/Progressives and Neocons. They'll both work very hard to destroy him. It's an unlikely uphill climb for sure. But he has my support.

You wish to tar fox and msnbc with the same brush but there is one important factor you have been ignoring. That factor has to do with lying. fox has been exposed for lying more times than I can count. I do recall msnbc making some mistakes but quickly acknowledging them. You seldom see o'reilly, hannity, or the other commentators on fox admit to being wrong or spreading false information. That is the primary difference between fox and msnbc.
