I have a simple question for anyone who is hung up on the term in the title. Does anyone seriously believe that Obama, or progressives in general are confused about who the "enemy" is?
That's not what this is about. The point the Right is making is that if you can't be honest about who your enemy really is, you can't attack it effectively.

But in practice, it's another example of how the Right shoots itself in the foot by making things too simplistic and jingoistic. Regardless of what they're really trying to accomplish, it LOOKS like they're just hung up on some phrase, and they become easy targets.

As with other bad ideas, this whole notion came from talk radio, which would do the conservative movement a great favor by not existing.
