That's why they blame migrants; El Salvador 1980-92: After the U.S. helped fix an election to repress dissidents in El Salvador, the rebels turned to violence and a civil war ensued. Although the U.S. claimed to be only involved on an advisory basis 20 U.S. soldiers were killed in combat missions. The U.S. spent six billion dollars repressing this popular revolution.

We are not holding anyone at the border as political prisoners, so fail one. They are free to leave, fail two. "sometimes" provide labor OR await mass executions, fail three.

The current situation is that people are being detained, no one is forcing anyone to stay there, they are making a choice because they want into the United States. We have a process for asylum seekers and refugees, and the process is poor and the workers overloaded. They can also seek asylum in Mexico if they desire.

Trump has deliberately slowed the asylum/immigration process to a crawl, ensuring overcrowding and human rights abuses like those AOC has criticized.

He's done this largely as a distraction from his upcoming impeachment hearings which will reveal to anyone willing to listen just how thoroughly corrupt and incompetent he and his crime family actually are.

This is why gangs are so evident down there now. The US threw these countries into chaos by changing the governments to fit the needs of the US, not for the freedom of the people to be in charge of their own destiny. We managed to arm the dictators, and or Oligarchs with money and power to concentrate their interests towards the US, not the people. The civil war as you say, was literally about the people trying to take their country back, and we were responsible for that Civil war.

The other problem is, Trump Toads are too ignorant of history to care, use refugees as scapegoats justifying their behavior, and have no interest in freedom or the independence of others. They would rather our government steal from them, then blame the people for trying to have a life the US stole from them. And Trump voters on this board don't care.
