(WATE) - Knoxville police removed two vinyl banners that contained what police called a message of white supremacy from an Interstate 640 overpass Monday morning.
Police first received a call about the banners hanging from the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge over I-640 just before 9 a.m.
The banners read "'Diversity' is a code word for white genocide."
KPD and NS Railroad Police removed the banners. Investigators with both departments are working to determine who placed the signs there.
